4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / tired of paying top dollar for Starbucks' frappuccinos? on: May 31, 2007 11:10:48 AM
I most certainly was for my beloved double chocolate chip frap! So I was determined to make my own... and I did!

Here's what you need...

-pack of hot cocoa powder
-Hershey's chocolate syrup
-chocolate chips - handful or so, whatever suits you

I just threw everything in a blender and played around with the milk to ice ratio to get the correct consistency. It was so good and tasted JUST like Starbucks!

6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / are cheap (but NICE) items a good start? on: October 08, 2006 02:14:05 PM
I added some inexpensive, but VERY nice, earrings to my shop (we're talking rose quartz, swarovski, and sterling silver). I was thinking that these would kick start my Etsy success. Would you be likely to buy from a seller who hasn't sold anything before? I don't know if I would, so I added these inexpensive earrings.  Was this a good idea?
Thanks for your help!
7  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / BUTTER BEANS! [Bath Melts] with instructions! on: October 08, 2006 12:20:23 PM
I made these this weekend... they were so easy to make, and plus the ingredients are really easy to find. These are fizzing bath melts, and I put them in a Jell-O "jellybean" mold- so they're butter beans!  The term's not original, though  Roll Eyes

I halved this recipe and got 60 beans.

-170g cocoa butter
-80 mL sweet almond oil...actually any oil would work (roughly 16 teaspoons)
-200g baking soda
-100g citric acid (i had a pretty hard time finding this, but it should be near the canning aisle of the grocery store)

melt the cocoa butter over low heat, remove when melted, and add the oil. let cool, but make sure it's still a liquid. add color and/or fragrance (a little note about fragrance- these smell really good without fragrance because of the cocoa butter, but if you decide to add fragrance, i think that a creamy smell would work best. i used eucalyptus, and they smell good, but chocolate and eucalyptus isn't the greatest combo. Tongue) Mix the baking soda and citric acid together in a separate bowl and make sure that there aren't any lumps. Once the cocoa butter has cooled, but is still liquid, add the baking soda and citric acid mixture. Spoon the mixture into molds and let them cool (pop them in the fridge if you want).

put them in a warm bath and they'll fizz and melt Smiley
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / *fabric covered headband...how to, anyone?* on: September 25, 2006 05:08:28 PM

9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / **preparations for my HOME SHOW!!** on: September 02, 2006 11:39:14 AM
Yep, it's coming a week from TODAY! I am one busy girl!

amazonite with Swarovski ( I can't seem to get rid of the amazonite ovals!)

MY FAVORITE!! coin freshwater pearls, with gray and white f.w. pearls, as well as Swarovski. this goes with everything.

i like this one a lot, too. it has pineapple quartz, brown swarovski crystals and freshwater pearls. i like the interesting color combo.

the amazonite ovals with freshwater...

the same ones with different color pearls... Wink

just a fun little memory wire bracelet.

these sell really well, and they're easy and quick to make. i love the beads.

and of course, the popular crocheted bead stretchy bracelets.  Smiley

thanks for looking, and wish me luck on the 9th and 10th!!
