1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Princess dress for my cousin on: January 14, 2014 01:37:27 PM

haven't posted in a while I have been setting up my own business and started a course in art and design  Cheesy

I made my cousin this princess dress because she is a massive girly girl and now she can be a princess any time she wants. I used a mcalls pattern which I altered a fair bit- I lowered the neckline at the back, lengthened the skirt by about 4 feet so I could bustle it. It is decorated with a white ribbon round the middle which was top stitched on and pink diamantes which cover the bustle stitching and round the neckline at the front. The hem on both the outer layer and lining is bias bound because the fabric is a pain for fraying.

The last image is the most accurate for colour- I will take some more photos of her in it at the weekend.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Fullness and wrinkling around zipper on: May 30, 2013 06:38:10 AM

I'm working on a muslin for a dress I'm making- now I have altered the pattern to fit me but there is a lot of wrinkling and fullness around the zipper. Any ideas on how to get rid of this as it really needs to be lying flat against my back rather than giving me extra lumps. Please don't laugh at the pictures and yes I sew in my jammies  Wink

7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / New Sewing Machine on: March 17, 2013 07:04:55 AM
Hi guys,

Well I posted before about my singer talenr having tension issues- turns out that the needle shaft was also bent up on the inside  Shocked.

The new machine (new being the operative word) I have is still a singer, but it is a Singer 185k and I love this machine so much already. I went into a sewing machine dealership yesterday and gave the gentleman my list 'needs to sew thick fabrics, metal, able to cope with a lot of use, within my budget of 100-200 max' and he asked if I would mind second hand. Well when he bought this machine out and I played with it, oh my it is so smooth and easy to use compared to the talent. It is only a straight stitch but it's brilliant.

My particular little machine is 55 years old and was much loved by the previous owner, still in fantastic condition with the original feet with the original box and hard case.

Sorry for the ramblings I am just so happy with this tank of a machine  Cheesy
8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Sewing machine is suffering PMS :( on: March 10, 2013 05:07:12 AM
Hello guys!

Just a really quick (but extremely important question), my sewing machine seems to be having major tension issues to the point that last night it just won't sew right- the stitches just come apart and are bubbled on one side, it also decided to ruffle my fabric  Angry. I have threaded and rethreaded my machine, changed the thread, removed the bobbin and put it back in, changed the tension and no matter what number I put it on I have the same problem. This issue has led me to be behind on my sewing projects which means I have no products for my etsy Sad. My machine is a singer talent 3321.

Thank you

This is my first post on Craftster showing the cashmere and silk taffeta coat I made for my dog, Maisie. As you can see she didnt want to pose for photos. I am intending to sell dog clothes and coats, and what I make for Maisie are the original samples.

I hope you like it Smiley
