71  Two Tailored Jackets in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by hoxierice on: February 11, 2007 06:27:01 PM
Since I finally got around to taking pictures I thought I would post two jackets I have tailored. Both of these are were done for a class. I really enjoy the process and all the steps to make a tailored jacket. Maybe sometime I will get around to doing one on my own without a class, but I would have to order A LOT of supplies to do it on my own.

This one I did two years ago from a Vogue pattern.

This one I did recently. It is from a period draft from a book. This one I made for the schools stock I thought it was just going to live in a dark room for a long time, but it is going to be used in our production of Romeo and Juliet It was made with no one in mind and it fit one of the actors perfectly.

72  Re: Liberate Your Skein Stash Gallery! Show off all that glorious yarniness here in The Swap Gallery by hoxierice on: February 11, 2007 05:02:29 PM
I finally took the time to take a picture of the yarn I got. I also had to find a clean place to take the picture (you might be able to tell it is my bed!) I didn't want to do that much cleaning! Anyway

I got some wool because I said I like to felt
Pattons Classic wool in white (with some kool-aid packets for dyeing)
Pink Cascade 220 that screams HAPPY VALTENTINE'S DAY!!!
Wonderfully soft Knit Picks Andean Silk in "lettuce"

And some fun stuff that will be an exciting addition to just felting (I think). I have never used a strand of other non feltable yarn while felting, but I think the fuzzy purple and the blue with strands would be perfect for some interesting felting projects.

Also some ticker tape yarn
Berroco Optik reds/purples with black, gold and boucle
And a ziplock bag with three small balls.

73  Front Fall Pants! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by hoxierice on: January 07, 2007 07:05:26 PM
I don't know who else would be excited by this but I am done with my big masters project. We will find out tomorrow if they like it Grin

Anyway part of my project was to draft and construct a pair of front fall pants. It may be a little difficult to see the wonder of the front fall pant because they are made out of muslin and when I took the picture I had not put on the closures yet, but here they are closed

With the front fall down

With the waistband open and spread out

The crazy thing about the front fall pant is that to make the front fall you have to cut down into the pants after you have sewn the legs and the crotch together. It was scary, but I did it and all the raw edges end up enclosed!

75  Re: Happy Little Christmas Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by hoxierice on: December 17, 2006 05:04:28 PM
I got my package. I am very excited, my partner is in Finland and I asked to know about Christmas where she is.

This is the ornament, it is a straw star, it is really great

And here is the rest of my stuff, the gift for someone else is wrapping paper, which i desperately need. The random act of kindness gift is felt wreath coasters, (they are really pretty) tea and some candy.

The gift for me I haven't opened yet. Everything was wonderful. Thanks so much!

I don't know if my partner can post pics and I didn't take any, but I sent her a chili pepper ornament (because I am in Arizona), a picture frame I stenciled for the gift for someone else and some fabric that I sun printed for a random act gift. She likes to sew so I figured she could make a nice gift for someone out of fabric that I made.

This was so much fun!

At some point when I saw I had a partner in the Neatherlands I thought "maybe I will get one with tulips on it!"

While I was away I got my package from mpicky. She does polymer clay stuff and sent me this

A tin, a pen, and a necklace. I am very impressed, there is a lot of detail in the pen, I just couldn't photograph it. Last night my boyfriend was going through some of his stuff, opening up all his tins that have screws and things in them. I told him I could send the tins away and the could come back decorated, but he have me a ridiculous look, he doesn't think that screws need to be in decorated tins!

And I got a wonderful thank you note from jonnamarco, it was her first swap and she was nervous, it was very sweet. I just moved into a new place with a backyard or "dirt patch" as I like to call it so I will plant the seeds you sent!

80  Re: "Let's Do the iTunes Shuffle!" - Round 3 - Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by hoxierice on: August 11, 2006 01:39:25 PM
Here are the decorated CDs from ericalm the top three are the actual CD's and the bottom one is the case. I am in awe of people who do art. Sure I can tailor a coat, but I can't draw.

I also had a good time listening to the CD's and think I will pass them onto my brother who is more musically worldly than myself and I think even he would find some new stuff that he would like.
