1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Origami Rubik's Cube Card on: February 25, 2008 10:54:23 PM
My boyfriend and I just did a 12 day long maths course and we wanted to thank the teacher, so we decided to make him a Rubik's Cube from origami. It's all modular origami, where you make several small modules and join them together (no glue, just clever folds). This cube has 26 little cubes in it, each made from 6 modules. That's 156 modules and 936 folds!

The cube:

And it opens to reveal a card!

The teacher loved it  Smiley
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Pattern for knitting roses? on: January 30, 2008 01:40:02 AM
Does anyone know of a pattern for knitting roses? I searched and couldn't find any, though I may not have searched thoroughly enough. I know there are lots of patterns for knit flowers but I'd specifically like to find a rose.

Thanks in advance for any help  Smiley
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Grumperina's Shifting Sands Scarf on: December 15, 2007 10:42:29 PM
I knitted this for my boyfriend for his birthday. That was back in June, so unfortunately I don't remember the yarn used.  Embarrassed

The pattern is Grumperina's Shifting Sands, found here, http://www.grumperina.com/knitblog/shiftingsands.htm. This scarf has close to 3000 cable crosses in it, with 10 in every right side row. Also, it hasn't been blocked, as I had no time before I was due to see him.  Embarrassed

Folded up (please excuse the cat hair)

This sort of shows the stitch detail

Action shot! This is the boyfriend wearing his scarf. I also made the MacGyver shirt for the same birthday. It says "MacGyver thinks I'm rad".

Sorry for the slightly blurry images. Hope you like!  Smiley
4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / MacGyver T-shirt on: November 11, 2007 08:29:52 PM
I stenciled this shirt for my boyfriend's birthday. We saw one like it when we were shopping once and he said he wanted one. The stencil is fading a bit now. Sorry the photo isn't great.

Hope you like it  Smiley
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Skull and crossbones illusion scarf on: June 14, 2007 03:50:17 AM
This is for one of my closest friends for her birthday. She loves black and white, especially stripes and anything piratey, so this was the obvious thing to make her.

Here it is on my bear, looking like a regular stripy scarf

And stretched out on the floor. The skull motifs are only visible at a particular angle

And folded up, where the skull is obvious. You can also see the fringe

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Scarf with gum leaf fringe! on: January 28, 2007 08:38:57 PM
This is my entry. It's just a simple long thin scarf. I made the fringe so that it sort of looks like gum leaves.

Action shot. The light is relly weird in this one.

I sent this scarf to Polaritygirl in the Pringles tin swap. I wanted to keep it though.  Tongue
7  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 15 ENTRIES / Painting of a Zombie and his Bear. on: October 03, 2006 04:13:28 AM
In progress. I painted it in about two hours.

Finished. Though this isn't a great photo.

Yes, the Zombie has emo hair. There isn't really much I can say about it. It's just a painting, so...yeah. I hope you like.

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Resistor Earrings! on: July 15, 2006 11:59:59 PM
I made these from a bunch of resistors. My mum wants to wear them to work (she works at an electrical store), but I want to keep them. They're nerdy. ^^

What do you think?
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Black and white dangly earrings! on: July 13, 2006 09:14:12 PM
I made these for a friend of mine. They're probably the first decent-looking jewellery item that I've made. Hope you like.

10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Sending knitted grenade? on: April 08, 2006 08:10:45 PM
Well, I'm sending a knitted hand grenade into the US as a gift. I was wondering if it would be confiscated or anything by customs? I'll write on the package "knitted item", so it should get through ok, right? I just want to make sure it will be received.
