1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Retro Appetizer for Cocktail Party on: November 22, 2007 08:33:19 AM
Crazy - my mom has made these for every special occasion since I was born. She got the "recipe" from my grandma. Smiley

You can make them a pinch healthier by using Turkey Ham. Another trick is to make sure you get the lunch meat thick enough - no shaved stuff, but you don't want steaks either.

I made 20 for an asian-themed bridal shower. Smiley

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: knit crochet goodie bag swap gallery! on: July 12, 2007 12:50:17 PM
I got my package from bluefrue (Sandy) today!!! It's amazing!!! Smiley

Using sewing skills that are out-of-this-world she made me this gorgeous messenger bag:

And when I looked inside I was blown away! Look at all the things I found:

And what made it even more fun was that it was all hidden in the MILLION pockets this bag has. It's so awesome!

And cutest of all:

Sandy really listened to my questionnaire answers and put together a totally thoughtful package - I'm shopping to spoil her this weekend . . . Smiley
4  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Knit crochet goodie bag swap - send by 7/16 on: June 19, 2007 10:20:31 AM
Mommying has required me to carry a tote-size, or larger, bag for what seems like forever - and have had to keep smaller things, chapstick, keys, cell phone in small pockets or bags so they don't go missing.

Clinique bags, the one's you get with your free gift with purchase, are perfect for toting a sock project or other little projects. Smiley

I recently received a GoKnit Pouch from my Secret Pal and I totally heart it. The loop is awesome to attach to my belt or stroller. I highly recommend loops on bags.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Designing your own patterns? on: May 04, 2007 06:44:52 AM
Debbie Stoller's SnB: Nation is really helpful for modifying an existing pattern. So if you have a basic sweater pattern, it gives you all the math tools you need to make it your own.

I just used it to design a shrug for my daughter and after much scribbling of notes (and having to grab my calculator) I think it's going to turn out great. Smiley

You can try checking previous months here:

Or contact the organizer and see if she has one. Smiley

9  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Baby Peep and Baby Duck - Img Heavy on: February 21, 2007 01:36:05 PM
Since I love marshmallow peeps, and can't justify eating them now that I've been diagnosed with diabetes, i had to make my own sweet treat, a baby peep:

Marjorie these are crazy cute!! I'm diabetic too and maybe, if I imagine hard enough, one of these will squelch my Easter sweet tooth. Smiley But it'll have to be a pink one, they're my favorite.

I must have missed the part where it told me to change colors for the blue stripe near the bottom and I added a few rounds on the all grey parts to make it longer, but the pattern was really easy to follow. Thanks!
