1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / I need a truckload of silk flowers for an installation. Any suggestion? on: June 26, 2009 07:38:43 AM
Hi I want to start working on a new art installation, but I need thousands apon thousands of silk or plastic flowers. I mean I need friggin boatloads of them! They can be any color quality age etc... I am not looking for crazy high quality ones although those would work just fine too! I want to build these giant structures which would be covered in masses of silk flowers. I would use the different colors of the flowers to create patterns and color variations. After they are built I want to dip them in layers of resin to create thick coatings and drips on the surface so they are almost similar to branches when they are caught in an ice storm. Anyway I am trying to figure out how to get them cheap or have people donate them to me since I never make money off of my installation work and really cant afford to buy a ton of them since they would be crazy expensive. Anyway I figured I would post on here and see if the great craftsterland wants to help be my think tank! Any suggestions? Cmon, I know you guys are super smart!

Here is a link to my website if you want to see my other work
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / reversable zippers. (where can I find them!!!???) on: May 05, 2008 07:14:59 AM
I want to make some reversable skirts, but I cannot seem to locate reversable zippers! I looked online and it seems that I can convert ones, but that seems like a royal pain. Does anyone know whre to get reversable zippers? I can only find heavy duty sports zippers that are 28 inches long!

5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / what type of ink should I use to print on flocked wallpaper? on: August 21, 2006 02:18:49 PM
I want to print onto some flocked wallpaper.  It has a sort of plisticlike finnish.  I want something that is permanent and not oil or solvent based, so I clean up with soap and water.  What do you reccomend and where can i find it fairly cheaply?  Also I really want to use some metalic colors.
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Blank adjustable rings on: April 28, 2006 04:30:15 PM
Ok I am looking for blank adjustable rings like these http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10323&item=8923332754  I know rings and things and skyblue carry them, but they both have the flimsier waffle topped ones that don't hold up very well.  Anyway, I need a source for stronger ones, has anyone found these anywhere?
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / theresa honeywell's knitted motorcycle on: April 22, 2006 12:50:22 PM
I am not sure if this is acceptable to post this here since I don't want to screw up someone's bandwidth.  But this is so fricking awesome I had to share this.  I mean it a goddamn knitted motorcycle!

8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / The Sampler on: April 22, 2006 09:19:15 AM
I am going to make my magnets for the sampler but I am a little bit worried about people reselling the items. I was thinking about permanently stamping the back of each one with my website address and
sample only not for resale. Is this OK or does it make me seem to paranoid? Since the Sampler contains at least 12 items and it is only $15, I worry about unethical shops buying a bunch of them with the intent of reselling the items for much more.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / looking for fairly strong magnets on: February 21, 2006 09:40:39 AM
Hi I am going to make a line of ceramic magnets.  The magnets will be 2 inch square, flat ceramic tiles with images on them.  So I need a fairly strong magnet.  Can anyone recommend anything?
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / cropping an image on: February 17, 2006 06:53:42 PM
Hi, here is where my complete lack of computer skills becomes so obvious its ridiculous.  I am using photoshop and I am trying to crop my images into a perfect square, but I have no idea how to do this.  Its pretty ridiculous considering I know how to clean up images and remove flaws, but this I am stumped on. Can anyone help me?
