I didn't know you could haggle at Montmatre!  I guess that's not something they would post on the walls though.

And how do you haggle the fabric?  Do you ask them before they cut it if you can get a better price?  The places I went to one person would cut it and then another person was out the checkout counter.  I need tutoring!

Great!  Thanks Mercredi and E-zabelle for the names of the craft stores.  I mainly sew but there's probably no craft I'll pass up.  And I just found out today I was too late to register my children for the Centre de Loisirs this summer... .SO we will have a CRAFT FIELDTRIP!  I will teach them that CRAFTING WITH MOMMY IS FUN!!!  They will have to repeat this 100 times to ensure the festivity.

Alors, nous pouvons essayer d'écrire en français mais tu dois excuser mes fautes!  Je peux te dire que tu parle meilleur anglais que je parle français.

I was liking the sound of these muffin recipes and then I decided to check out Trufflegirls' website.  OMG I'm laughing out loud at the 1877 book excerpt.  I love this little home remedy:

"To Restore From Stroke of Lightening.  Shower with cold water for two hours; if the patient does not show signs of life, put salt in the water, and continue to shower an hour longer."

And after 3 hours you might want to try an alternate therapy. Wink

Thanks for the ideas on cheaper fabric.  I haven't heard of those stores but I'll definitely be on the lookout!

Where do you get your crafty supplies?  After 2 years here I've only found a few things at Carrefour but I know there is more out there!

Hey! -   I just saw this post.  I live in the Paris area too. Wink

I don't know... I sure haven't found any cheap crafty places.  I have gone to the area of Montmatre and checked out all the fabric stores.  A HUGE selection but lordy where's the $1 per yard Wal-Mart bin?Huh

C'est fou!

And there is a fantastic brocante in October in the Parisien suburb of Houilles.  If you take the RER A west, it's just the 2nd stop past LaDefense.  The whole town is out there with their stands of 2nd hand stuff (and some new lower priced stuff too).  I'll be there!
