I had so much fun with this challenge. I found so much stuff taking my son places - the playground, a back-to-school luau party - and its all mounted on a 12 x 12 piece of cardboard that comes in a pack of scrapbook pages to keep them from getting bent. You'll notice a palm tree drink stirrer thing, some slik flower petals, a little yellow bow bead and some kind of purple plastic thing with an arrow. The latter 2 were found on a playground. The palm tree and flowers were rescued from the trash at the party. There are also 2 piece of ribbon that I found in a parking lot. The pink tissue paper background was found at the playground - remnant of a birthday party.

This is a piece of paper I found on the playground - I think its from one of those streamer-popper things.

This is a torn piece of a gateway cow box. I work in an IT department. I found this in our parking lot. It apparently tore off of a box when we were unloading a truck but it was in this exact shape. I did not modify it at all!

For approximately 10 years, I haved saved nearly every fortune out of every fortune cookie I have eaten. I never knew what to do with them until now. It seemed fitting to me.

Thanks for looking. This was my first attempt at collage and I really had a good time!

Let me first say that I have NEVER EVER EVER EVER sewn before in my ENTIRE life. My mom got a new sewing machine a few years ago. I got her old Singer in the deal. I put it in the basement and didn't touch it. I didn't know what to do with it. This challenge inspired me. I bought my supplies, whipped out the machine and thought I was going to breeze through this. HAHAHAHAHA I broke a needle trying to wind the bobbin. SO, off to mom's for beginner's sewing 101 (or how to wind a bobbin without going through my entire supply of needles).

3 days later I have an outfit! WOO HOO!!!

Here's what I started with:

And here's my finished project - my take on men's dressy attire!

And here I am modeling it! I hope this pics are OK - my 6 year old took them for me!!!

I know its not perfect but I'm not too disappointed in my first attempt at sewing.
Thanks for this challenge - it got me motivated to finally try my hand at this!!! Grin
3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / LCD screen on: June 09, 2005 05:28:48 AM
I have a cracked LCD screen from a laptop. Any ideas what could be done with it? I've already taken the plastic casing off to use as a picture frame but there HAS to be SOMETHING I can do with the actual screen, right?
