2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: 2017 Ongoing ATC Swap Discussion Thread on: January 01, 2018 07:55:03 AM
I was out of town for a week.  I finished my ATC the evening before we left, but I couldn't take pics (since it was dark).  I was happy to see when I returned that I squeaked in before the deadline.  Our Chrismukkah is super super busy.  It was 0 degrees when we left Iowa and 30 when we returned to Colorado.  Now it's 20 out and might as well be 0.

But guess who received a Gelli Plate!

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap -- November 2017 Gallery! on: November 28, 2017 07:15:28 PM
I received two ATCs after coming home from a ten hour drive for Thanksgiving.

Curiousfae chose my adorable deer theme.
"Adorable Deer"

She made it with pencil and watercolor pencils.  She wrote that she wasn't sure how adorable it was, but that its eyes make it pretty cute to her.  I agree!

thanate chose my Jorogumo theme.
"Venom Martini with a Fly Garnish"

closeup of the spider with martini

She wrote that the spider seemed more spider than human, so she added the personality.  And her daughter made me a smiley face on the inside packaging, which is cute.

Thank you both!
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Holly Jolly Christmas House on: November 26, 2017 01:40:47 PM
Thank you, I ended up buying one of the brick papers after I measured and re-measured and re-re-measured.

I have my supplies out to make just the houses as Christmas presents, but I realize....  where did you find the brick paper?

mandykaye---   It's not as complicated as it may sound to make stamps.  You sketch out the design on paper (I like tracing paper) then go back over it really hard with pencil.  Flip the paper over onto the stamp material and hold tight.  Then rub the back of the paper with something hard  (I use the back end of my carving tool).  It'll look backwards on the stamp, but correct when you stamp it.  When I'm finished I stamp it to see if I need to adjust any lines or carve away some stray pieces, etc.  Also, if you keep that paper and something happens to your stamp, you can create a copy.  I'm having to do that with a stamp I put out in a geocache.

elliot_anne,

The octopus hole punch was either one of those dollar bins at the craft store ages ago or I got it from the thrift store or I got it when I bought a slew of hole punches from a lady on craigslist.  I'm not sure, I've had it for a long time.

The rubber duck was surprisingly easy to cut into with an xacto knife! I traced around the container then cut out the hole and put in a large quantity of E6000 to hold the cache in place.  Out here there's a cacher that places them under light pole skirts as a funny surprise for an easy P&G cache.  They use all of those funny ducks that are dressed like witches or football players and what-have-you.  The caches start out with "Ducking Out for a ...."  I made a snake cache in a similar fashion for a friend who hid it in a guard rail.  Lots of funny logs with that one.

The snow on the whomping willow is some stuff that my husband uses for painting miniatures.  It goes on much like embossing powder but instead of using ink, you use a thin layer of mod podge (and don't heat it up).

I'm super glad you liked everything!  We sent sweet packages to each other Smiley
