1  Re: Good Old Fashioned Random Swap in The Swap Gallery by Laminda on: May 04, 2005 07:10:48 PM
MsRockChick, you ROCK!  Thanks for the lovely, lovely stuff:

The photo doesn't really capture the naughty martinigirl on the jewelry box; and inside there were patterns and a necklace.  The box is PERFECT for my new bead stash, I've already relocated a good chunk of it.  Thanks again, everything's gorgeous!

Hey, hey Halidays!

It's a rainbow assortment!  Different colored pens, soap petals, pedicure-thingies and a crocheted cellphone/ID bag.  You're the best, girl - hope you like what you're getting!

3  Thanks, Heroinechic! in The Swap Gallery by Laminda on: April 10, 2005 09:27:44 AM
I got the sweetest li'l package from Heroinechic yesterday - a great notepad, lovely bracelet, and adorable felt fishy which my cats and 2 year-old keep fighting over.  You're awesome - thanks a ton for all of this wonderful stuff!

6  Gidget Gauntlets, free pattern! in Knitting: Completed Projects by Laminda on: November 24, 2004 10:26:02 AM
I worked these up as a quick birthday present for my next-door neighbor, who just turned 13 and was about to attend her first Avril Lavigne concert, so I though she could use some armwarmers - especially a pair that matched her new Converse high-tops.

Yarn used: Peruvian Highland Wool from Elann
1 skein Irish Moss, 1 skein Black
Fibre Content: 100% Highland Wool
Gauge: 19 st/4 inches 4.5 mm (US 7)
Yardage: 100 m (109 yards)
Size: 50g (1.75 oz) ball
Finished Length: 8.5 inches

I knit these in the round using the Magic Loop (you could also use 2 circs or DPNs), and it took about half a skein of each color.  Also, I have VERY small wrists and hands, so you might want to cast on 4-8 more stitches and add a few rows after the thumbhole if your hands aren't baby-sized like mine.  This is my first attempt at writing up a pattern, so please bear with me.

MC=main color (black)
SC=secondary color (green)
KFB=increase by knitting into the front and back of the stitch
K2tog=decrease by knitting two stitches together

Using the long-tail cast on, CO 28 stitches
Rows 1-6 knit MC
Rows 7-12 knit SC
Rows 13-18 knit MC
Rows 19-24 SC
Row 25 Knit MC
Row 26 (MC) *K 6, KFB (repeat to end of row, 32 stitches)
Row 27-29 knit MC
Row 30 (MC) *K 7, KFB (repeat to end of row, 36 stitches)
Row 31-36 knit SC
Row 37 knit MC
Row 38 (MC) *K 8, KFB (repeat to end of row, 40 stitches)
Rows 39-42 knit MC
Row 43 knit SC

The thumbhole is created by knitting to the end of the row, then - instead of continuing to knit the next row, TURN and work back to the beginning.  Then turn again, so that you're working flat.  At the end of the thumbhole rows, simply rejoin and continue working in the round.

Row 44 (SC) K to end, turn
Row 45 (SC) P to end, turn
Row 46 (SC) K to end, turn
Row 47 (SC) P to end, turn
Row 48 (SC) K to end, turn
Row 49 (MC) P to end, turn
Row 50 (MC) K to end, turn
Row 51 (MC) P to end, turn
Row 52 (MC) K to end, turn
Row 53 (MC) P to end, turn
Row 54 (MC) K to end, turn
Row 55 (SC) P to end

Rows 56-60 knit SC
Rows 61-64 knit MC
Row 65 *K 8, K2tog (repeat to end of row, 36 stitches)
Row 66 knit MC
Bind off loosely

7  Boobholder/Minisweater (link to free pattern!) in Knitting: Completed Projects by Laminda on: September 16, 2004 07:29:42 AM
My new favorite pattern, by the very talented Stefanie (aka Glampyre,

I used almost 4 skeins of Noro Fuji in color 101, which is bulkier than
the pattern calls for - it's written for worsted weight, or slightly heavier.
Best of all, this is knit in one piece, so there's almost no seaming!
Pattern is free and can be found here:
