31  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: tic tac containers on: July 03, 2005 11:30:51 AM
I glued some heavy duty magnets on the back of one and put a preserved a comic cut down to that size in it in front of a piece of styro. cut to size.  Would have been great but I made the mistake of spraying the comic with krylon and it kind of bled through...I am going to try again though!  You can also cut photos down to that size and pad the back to make them flush in the tic-tac box.  Lots of ideas are coming to mind now!  TishaLee

I would like to see that tin and magnet organizer if anyone knows where it is...I don't have a cat but I have tuna and salmon cans....I will look for it myself eventually but if anyone knows where it is it might be faster!  TishaLee

just came upon one of those and I see that they are just cardboard on the bottom, covered with aluminum.  I would just save the purple tops to do something with, like link them together to make a bag of some sort maybe?  That is if you have a whole bunch of them accumulated.  TishaLee

I love the ring idea, BlueBye,  that sounds like something I might have to try!  What about twisting them around a wire, using a couple of different colors, to make little squiggly earrings? They would look kind of festive like party confetti. Just a thought.  I hate to throw plastic covered twisties away because I know, just know, someday I will come up with the perfect and most artful use for them!  As with all the other stuff I hang on to!  TishaLee
35  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: barbie brushes on: July 02, 2005 03:15:02 PM
I was going to suggest gluing to a picture frame too, with little barbie shoes and hangers and other accessories, but I also have thought about doing something similar with a little box (a baby wipes container?) and then gluing little foam letters to it also saying "Barbie's Stuff" or something.  This would be for one of my neices but I have lost track of all my daughter's barbie brushes, combs, shoes, etc.  They are all in the abyss that is her room and I am forbidden to enter and don't know if I could ever find my way out again, so it's probably just as well!  You could send some to me!  TishaLee

Is the whole thing plastic like the lid or is that some kind of foil covered cardboard on the bottom?...hard to tell and I am not familiar with those.  I have many, many empty yellow Nestle's Quik Sugar Free chocolate milk mix containers.  My daughter has been insulin dependant since age 6 and she is almost 15!  It is the only way she will drink milk so I have probably purchased 2 or 3 boxes per month for the past nine years and they are everywhere holding craft supplies, paint brushes, used needles, etc!  I had been looking for something to do with them forever and one day on HGTV's web site I came upon my very same yellow container decorated as a cute little novelty purse!  Right away I made one gluing on many bright colored fabrics and foam of different textures and it is adorable, if I may say so myself!  Then I sprayed a couple in different colors of Fusion (lightly sand first, and let it dry for 7 days unless you are gluing stuff on it) and on one I wrapped red, white and blue plastic leis around it, on another I left yellow and wrapped a cut-off jeans leg around it, the possibilities are endless!  You can push a nail or auger through the lid and bottom to attach them and put a bigger hole in each side, longways, to put any kind of strap on it that you might want!  As soon as I can I will post a picture of a few of them!  I can look up exacly where to find it on HGTV's site if anyone is interested!  TishaLee

Kaleesi...I saw that sand dollar story once...do you happen to have a copy of It?  That would be great!

As far as the shells, I recently spray painted them in blue, green and red, kind of just in a tie-dye fashion,,,They came out really pretty and I am going to use them in a 'fake' aguarium!  TishaLee

Those are great and I have all kinds of different fabric scraps...but you know what would be cool?  I have a denim jacket I painted with metalic and glitter paint...I think I might try some denim earrings to match it!  Thanks for the inspiration!  TishaLee

Those are too too cute! I love the one with the girl basking in the sun...I have played just a little with clay...how do you get such tiny detail?  Guess I need to just look at the polymer sites and play around with it!  Nice art!  WishDish
