1  How to make big SD chibi feet? in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions by Lhiannan on: September 29, 2013 08:26:05 AM
NOTE: This is NOT my doll.  It is just a great example image that I found.  All credits to the13thrabbit.

What would the pattern look like to make big super-deformed chibi-style feet such as this doll has?

Approaching the finish line on a doll for my sister-in-law.  I promised I'd make her one back in February and got around to actually working on it a couple months ago.  This morning I finished sewing up the pants.  She's 99% ready to go, just need to add snaps to the clothing and attach the wig.

I've been goofing around with this Siamese for months now.  Her halter dress is too small for her in certain key areas, so I'll end up remaking it.

Also, I got my hands on some ugly porcelain dolls and I peeled their wigs off by heating the glue up with a blow dryer.  Kitty likes her blonde pigtails  Cheesy  Shoes are from Walmart's new doll line and fit perfectly!

Oh, goodness, it's been too long since I last posted!

Working on a new poppet; she'll be Red Riding Hood and I'm planning a larger Big Bad Wolf to go with her.

I need to work on her entire outfit.  The dress is stolen from my elf and the corset is made of some horrible ex-drapery that is fraying to death even as we speak.

I hate tiny fingers!  She had to have a second set of arms made because I could not ever get two of the fingers to turn in the first arm I made and the second one somehow got magically stained with a big splot of blue, and I ripped through one of the fingers, too.  These fingers are gently wired with 15mm pipe cleaners (the extra fluff makes great stuffing).  I haven't decided if she's going to get 5 fingers or not.  Probably not, even though she has five cute little toesies...

Her hair is exactly the color of Kraft macaroni & cheese and I really like it Cheesy  I crocheted a little wig cap/hat thing and spent more time looping the hair onto it than I did hand-sewing the actual doll.

Sharalee, I put her in a big t-shirt and tied up the neck and bottom.  I think that's what hurt her neck; the two knots tangled and made the doll curve to the side.  If I'd put her in without protection, her arms and legs would probably have ripped off  Shocked.  They're on tight, but not that tight Cheesy  One day, I may try out actual doll joints.  The things my dolls go though BEFORE completion is rough, let alone after (I have 3 boys, the oldest is only 6)...

A peep at the Siamese Poppet.  I've begun working on her outfit, which has been requested to be 'gothy'.  She's made from this soft white fabric that I picked up at a discount fabric store.  I have no idea what it is, and they only had a little over a yard of the white.  Her ears are brown alova and purple fabric from that same discount store (50 cents for a fat quarter!).  I want to make a giant version of her and hug her all day, she's so cuddly!

I'm slowly creating an elf poppet, using the Elenore body.  She just got her underdress, so she's ready for showing off even though she's far from finished.

My 18-month old got hold of her and did some damage as well as getting her dirty, so she had to go into the wash and then get a lot of seam repairs.  Now she's got some cool battle scars, I suppose Cheesy

7  My pink-haired Poppet! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Lhiannan on: December 30, 2012 09:28:07 PM
My recently completed Poppet.  She doesn't have a name yet, and she's not quiiiite finished.  When I can, I want to replace her kitty parts with fur instead of felt.

She's made with some pale flannel I had unused from a dollmaking project that I never really got started.  The craft stores around here only seem to carry alova suede in zany animal prints (pink-on-pink zebra, while interesting, is not what I'm looking for at the moment!)

I really liked making this doll (my 6th, after 5 Cupcakes) and I have ideas for so many more!  I am completely addicted now!

(My cellphone is not a good camera.  I *promise* I'll dig my real camera out one day!)

8  Fox Doll in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Lhiannan on: December 16, 2012 11:45:48 AM
I am totally addicted to ghilie's Cupcake pattern, having made 5 dolls for my friends and I for Christmas.  She includes some alternate heads for the pattern, so this weekend I took a go at the fox head.

It was quite some work for me to draw out and then stitch together foxy markings for this doll (they're not included on the pattern, neither is the tail).  They're not applique, I cut up that precious little face to put those cheeks on, lol...  Also, I wish I'd not accidently sewn the arms up with white instead of black, but oh well.  These dolls are just for fun and this one is going to my kids anyway. I'm happy with him and the dolls are starting to make me want to dig out my sewing machine and stop being afraid of it! Cheesy

9  My first Cupcakes (Ghilie pattern. Pic Heavy) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Lhiannan on: December 01, 2012 06:09:19 PM
Even though I've been sewing for a while, I'm still a novice.  So, making these Cupcake dolls has been quite a task for me, but I'm very happy with the way they're turning out!

A friend and I started writing a series of silly little stories starring characters vaguely based on us.  We've since added characters based on other friends.  I'm making these character dolls for my friends (and myself) for Christmas.

I have 2.5 out of 5 dolls finished and couldn't wait to show what I've got so far.  All the girls are wearing the same basic a-line dress and have an accessory or two nodding toward their story character (for example, Lee in the stories dresses sort of gothy with pink thrown in for good measure).

First up, Lee, co-main character.  She's adorable, the cutest girl you've ever seen.  She also happens to be half-troll and a homicidal axe-wielding maniac (and I just remembered that I have to make her little tufty tail)...

The second one I have finished is Hteb Nna, Usurper Mummy Queen of Peegypt (have I mentioned we started these stories when we were quite young?  Wink )

I hope to have pics of the other 3 soon.  My own doll, Dee (the Insane), is done but still naked.  Alegna Llor, the no-good schemer and mischief-maker, and Giggles the Crystal Fairy need to make their appearances!

EDIT:  Finished all the dolls!

Here is Alegna Llor, no-good schemer and mischief-maker (and wearer of really bad disguises).

Giggles, the crystal fairy.

And the other co-main character, Dee.  Insane.  First story revolves around retrieving her missing fleas.

Added a pic one my friends took of all the dolls after I gave them away.
