Homemade French bread Cheesy

I put a lot of scores in it so that we could just tear off chunks of it.

82  Drawstring deck bags + thread catcher (it's sort of a bag) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by RedheadWithThread on: July 16, 2017 01:52:09 PM
The owner of my local game shop asked if I could make some bags for him to give out as prizes at his next Pokemon tournament. He specified that he wanted "deck box bags": drawstring bags large enough to hold a standard sized deck box with enough room for counters and coins. I told him that I could as soon as I headed to JoAnn Fabrics (it's five minutes from his shop).
So a trip to JoAnn's and a few hours later and I had five bags for him. Yes, he asked for four but I made an extra for him because he LOVES Pokemon, especially Pikachu. Smiley

The bags together:

Close-up of one (looks nicer off my red couch):

Doctor Who bag:

A friend saw the deck bags at the LGS and asked if I could custom make one for him. He wanted it tall enough to fit his EDH deck box. Since EDH boxes hold 100 cards and have a compartment in the bottom for storing dice, they're a bit bigger/taller than a standard deck box, which holds 60 cards, which means I had to modify the pattern. I realize the Tardis print is upside-down but it's right-side up on the other side: the bag is cut on a fold so that there's not a seam along the bottom to allow the box to sit flat.

Thread catcher:

The first bag I made, I goofed in my math and accidentally made it too short to add a drawstring. So instead of jury-rigging it to make it tall enough, I decided I would use it as a thread catcher since I needed one anyway.

Project Name: LSU key fob
I made this key fob for the fiancee of the friend who got the LSU wallet. I had wanted to make her something but wasn't sure what to make until I saw the key fob kit when I was picking up a zipper. It took about 30 minutes to make this and only took that long because I was trying to avoid singeing my fingers while turning the 1/4" seams. And I had to rip out the stitches at one point because I sewed the seam super wonky. I hope the next one I make doesn't take that long because it's a bit embarrassing to take THAT LONG on something so simple Tongue

Project Name: Sewing basket
I made this to keep the toddler out of my sewing stuff: scissors, thread, bobbins, etc. It saves money because I don't have to buy a sewing basket AND if the toddler can't reach the scissors, he can't cut himself and wind up needing stitches Tongue

My latest projects:

They're drawstring deck bags Smiley I made them for my local game store by request of the owner. He's bought them to give out as prizes for a Pokemon tournament later this month: top four winners get a bag, the fifth is for him because he loves Pokemon, especially Pikachu.
The colors are off because this is from my Instagram and I used a filter to try to fix the colors (didn't work).

Project Name: Drawstring Pokemon deckbag
I'm so happy that I was able to get the bag the size I needed on the second try! The drawstrings are just crocheted chains because my sewing machine kept mangling the ones I tried sewing for it. Dang thing will sew teeny doll clothes but eats drawstrings. Go figure Roll Eyes

Prompt: July Battle - Back to Craftopia
Team: Clan of the Creators
Project Name: Pokemon thread catcher
This was going to be a deck bag for the owner of our LGS, who happens to be a good friend. But I goofed and didn't make it tall enough to close over the top of the deck box nicely. So instead of helping out a battling Pokemon trainer, it will be helping me in my battle to keep bits of thread off my floor.

Project Name: Bet you CAN eat just one cookie
My husband and I have been doing a pretty good job of eating healthier so I wanted to make us a treat. But I knew if I made just a plain old sugar cookie that he'd eat way too many because he has NO self control when it comes to home-baked goods (I do: barely). So I decided to be devious and add crushed red pepper flakes to the mix. Grin Being a girl born and raised in Louisiana, I LOVE hot and spicy stuff and have been eating it most of my life. My husband, on the other hand, does not like very much spicy stuff. He tried one and ate half of it before he gave it to me saying "Nope, that's not right. I don't like it."

I made cookies at midnight. I swear, I haven't lost control of my life.

89  50s vintage purse patterns? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by RedheadWithThread on: June 25, 2017 08:15:53 PM
I love 50s retro/pin-up girl/rockabilly inspired things so when I saw this in the remnant bin at my local Walmart (I never saw it on a bolt! I missed out), I just had to have it:

The polka dot/cherry combo just screams ROCKABILLY PURSE to me, and I want to make it with a 50s style purse pattern. But I'm not having any luck finding any vintage/vintage style patterns (unless I want dresses and crop tops: there's quite a few of those out there).

Do any of y'all know of any patterns, free or paid? Any help would be appreciated.
For reference, it's just a couple inches shy of being three quarters of a yard.

Sewed up a wallet for a friend:

It got its own post on the bag/purses/wallets board.
