Project Name: Jinx's corduroys and socks
So I went ahead and finished his new pants (they needed less work than I thought! Roll Eyes) and I'm super proud of them. I'm more proud of these than the jeans, even though the jeans took longer to make. And I'm proud of those tiny socks! I've made MH sized socks before but the material was too thick so they didn't look quite right and were hard to fit into the shoes. These are made of a super thin jersey knit and are just the right thickness so I don't have to struggle to get his shoes on his feet!

I just noticed that the color of his pants look washed out: they're not beige but a warmer, more sandy brown.

I repainted this Monster High gargoyle boy's face around 2014/2015 but never got around to posting pics of him Roll Eyes But the jeans are new: I made them several weeks ago but never posted them here Roll Eyes Though they do look nice on him, I've decided denim doesn't suit Jinx's personality so I made him new ones (second pic). The second pair of pants are a warmer brown in person: my camera washed out the color Tongue

Project Name: Jinx's jeans
These pants have a little detail most people wouldn't think to put into tiny doll's jeans: ACTUAL POCKETS. The pattern I used (from DGRequiem on Etsy) had pieces to make imitation pockets which were basically slits to put the dolls hands in but couldn't actually hold anything. Being the nutcase detail-oriented person that I am, I tweaked the pattern a bit and gave him usable pockets, the linings of which were made from actual pocket lining, cut from the jeans that supplied the denim for these.
After some thought, I've decided jeans just don't suit his character and am working on new pants for him so expect another photo of him soon Smiley

For anyone curious about the stickers in the background: the green one is the NVIDIA GeForce logo and the blue ones are from Magic: The Gathering's Aether Revolt sealed event boxes.

Okay so it's not much to look at but this quesadilla was delicious!

I meant to take photos of it to show what's inside before I sealed it but I forgot Roll Eyes It's based on the chicken bacon ranch club quesadilla offered at Moe's Southwest Grill. It's a whole wheat tortilla filled with seasoned baked chicken, black beans, shredded cheddar, shredded Colby Jack, diced tomatoes, crispy bacon, and a squirt of ranch dressing. They were a hit with my hubs and the friends we had over. I had a friend ask for the recipe so I will attempt to write one up but when I make up my own recipes, they're usually not an exact science! Lol.

Hello! Cheesy
I've managed to escape my tiny overlord's clutches for the weekend (my parents have him) and sat down to draw a bit.
I made two sketches of the tiny overlord in Disney style.

77  Lucius, Disney style in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by RedheadWithThread on: April 21, 2017 12:15:29 AM
Yesterday I decided since my parents have the baby for the weekend that I would sit down and sketch a bit.
So what did I draw? My son, Lucius, because I have lots of photos of him that I could use as references.
But I've never drawn a baby in my style (which is a sort of comic book-esque style) so I decided to draw him Disney style.

I realize that it's typically only the baby Disney girls that have the pouty mouths but he's really good at doing that pouty face so it fits. The hands are a bit off/arms are too short but this is the first drawing I'd made in quite some time (at least a year, I believe).

This one was based on a photo I have of him and his Mickey Mouse (he LOVES Mickey Mouse).

I may make some more drawings pf him before the weekend is over. If I do, I'll update this post.

My little sprog is entertained by the 90s Batman cartoon (one of the few shows he actually watches) and in the episode "Tyger, Tyger", there was a character named Dr. Emile Dorian who looks an awful lot like Ernest in his role of Dr. Pretorius:

Even my hubs, who usually doesn't notice things like that, said "Hey, he looks like that mad scientist guy from that old Frankenstein movie."

79  My first corner-to-corner blanket in Crochet: Completed Projects by RedheadWithThread on: February 05, 2017 09:20:13 PM
Quite a few people in one of the FB crochet/knitting groups in which I'm a member were posting "C2C" blankets. I did a bit of research and decided that I really, really liked the look.
After working a few rows, I decided I liked the feel too, and set about working on a blanket for my hubs. Hubs said I needed to make a blanket for our son because he has a blanket (actually, he has an afghan which was made for and given to me YEARS ago that he swears is his).
I put aside his blanket and made this for our 10 month old using some mystery yarn hubs bought for me at Michael's. It was in bags which say "Fashion Plus" on them; none of the yarns had labels so I don't know the weight/color/brand or anything about them. I had 15 skeins to work with but ran out with only 14 rows to go! (This isn't a "baby" sized blanket but for when he's older.)
So I had hubs take me to Michael's, hoping they'd have something really close to its color in stock. Nope! No such luck! Tongue
Hubs suggested Hobby Lobby. I was skeptical but since HL is five minutes from Michael's, I agreed.
I hurried to the yarn section and, lo and behold, they had a purple yarn that was really, really close in color: Lion Brand Heartland yarn in Hot Springs. (Today I learned that my yarn was probably Heartland Thick and Quick in Hot Springs).
I pulled from the center and the end, doubling up the yarn and finished it off.
It's quite obvious in this photo because of the lighting (intentional) but otherwise, it's hard to see the difference.

Research Project Name: Magic-al Bouquet + Boutonniere
Team: Fandom
Project Link: Coming Soon
Long time overdue but here's my bouquet and my hubby's boutonniere (which I forgot to include as part of the original proposal; oops!). The bouquet is made of 22 flowers, each of which was made using the mana symbols from one of each of the five mana colors in Magic: The Gathering (this means I cut up 110 mana cards, not counting the ones I had cut that hubby accidentally tossed out). The centers of the flowers are made from the card art of the cut up flowers. Each flower took me about an hour (sometimes longer) from cutting to prep (rolling the petals on a crochet hook so they'd curve) to assembly. Then I arranged them, securing them with floral tape as I went to make sure they stayed put. Hubs's boutonniere was so much easier. And the center of his flower is the mana circle from the back of a Magic: The Gathering carh, which I painstakingly made sure lined up with the corresponding petal colors. It's hot glued onto an alligator clip and clipped into the buttonhole of his lapel because I couldn't find my brooch pin backs! Tongue

Research Project Name: Garruk and Chandra (I didn't see this on the front page?)
Team: Fandom
Project Link: Coming Soon (I have to get good shots from the front)
Garruk is my hubs's favorite Planeswalker, as well as MY favorite Planeswalker and he's big/tall like my hubs so I decided Garruk would be great to have as a table decoration for the groom. Chandra is a redhead and feisty, like myself, so I decided she would be great as the bride. Originally, we were just going to buy Funko Pop! Vinyls of them but Garruk was really expensive at the time we were looking. So I took it upon myself to crochet dolls that were like the figures. It worked. Sort of: I hit the deadline before I got them 100% complete and became so frustrated that I couldn't make them perfect copies that I am not adding to them. But they're cute as they are and are recognizable as Chandra and Garruk (friends were excitedly asking "Is that Chandra and Garruk?!" as I put them on the table) so I'm happy with them. Maybe some day I'll make small, Funko-sized versions that are more detailed.

These photos are courtesy of my wedding photographer, Al Quartermont, who is also a local TV news anchor Smiley I'll be getting more shots of Chandra and Garruk soon. And possibly the bouquet, if I can find where I put it up! Huh
