I made these to match the apron that CLM sent me when she sent a box of goodies for my little froggy Cheesy

This was a custom order from a friend:

He had a drawstring bag for his play mat but it was made of a super cheap material and was starting to fall apart. So he gave me the bag and asked if I could sew him a new one in the same Pokemon fabric as the bags I had given to our local gaming store.

Project Name: Chicken club quesadillas
I made these once before, about two months ago. They didn't turn out right then and still didn't turn out properly. This time was totally my fault though. Tongue They're similar to the chicken bacon ranch ones I made months ago but there's supposed to be pico de gallo on it, no bacon, and no ranch. I had tomato, but forgot cilantro and peppers to make the pico. I had the black beans that go on it though. And I used salsa in place of the pico. They taste okay but hopefully, next time I remember all the ingredients. Also, hopefully next time I won't split my tortilla!

Prompt:  August - 3. Cutout Clearing
Team: Clan of the Creators
Project Name: Spiderweb oven mitts
Project Link: Coming Soon (after I make another pair)
I had to do a LOT of cutting out for this one: the spiderweb cotton for the outside, the Insul-Brite, the cotton batting, and the cotton canvas for the inner lining/cuff. I made these to match the awesome apron that craftylittlemonkey sent me when she sent a box of goodies for my little guy. They fit me well enough but were a bit snug for my husband. So the next pair I make will have to be a little larger.

I had this cut out for about two weeks before I finally got around to sewing it! Tongue It looks much nicer on but I couldn't get my hubby to take a pic for me.

35  Skulls and roses apron in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by RedheadWithThread on: August 02, 2017 07:51:08 PM
I love cooking and baking and I love aprons.
But you wouldn't know it if you visited: I have one apron that craftylittlemonkey gifted me when she sent me goodies for my sprog (if you're reading this CLM, thanks again! Kiss).
So I decided I needed to make myself another apron and set about finding a pattern. I found this one on Craftsy that only uses one yard of fabric to make a simple apron. I didn't put a pocket on it because I didn't feel like fussy cutting Tongue Also, I made a loop for the top instead of ties for around the neck. I hate aprons that tie around the neck.

I hope to update with a photo of me wearing it, if I can get my hubs to take a pic for me.
As soon as I get myself some cotton batting, I'm going to make a matching pair of oven mitts, as well as a pair of oven mitts to match the apron CLM gave me.

Finally got around to sewing myself an apron! Cheesy I'm going to make mitts to match, just as soon as I get some cotton batting (I can't find the flannel I had; I may have given it to my mom).

The print is from JoAnn's and seems to be no longer available Sad (I mention this because I had a friend ask about the print when I found it and showed her.)

Project Name: Homemade French bread/garlic bread
Project Link: Here
The recipe for this came out of a book. It used to be a library book (it had a little pocket for the little stamp slip in the front but it came out) at some point before being donated to Goodwill. The bread tastes delicious and went great with our spaghetti dinner. I put lots of scores so we could just rip off chunks of the bread Smiley

38  First time making homemade bread on my own in Recipes and Cooking Tips by RedheadWithThread on: July 24, 2017 07:24:20 PM
I think I did pretty well for my first stab at it Smiley
To be fair, I used to help my grandmother make homemade breads of different sorts when I was but a wee ankle biter.
The recipe for this came from Reader's Digest Hobbies and Crafts in the bread section. I halved the recipe and made two smaller loaves instead of three loaves. I melted butter and mixed in garlic powder then drizzled it over the loaves to turn it into garlic bread.
I also looked online for how to tweak it to make it with wheat flour.
My husband didn't realize that wheat flour was "spotty" compared to white flour and thought something was wrong with the flour when he saw the dough.

Pre-baking:

I promise that pan isn't dirty: it's old and those spots WILL NOT come out. They drive me crazy but we can't afford new pans at the moment. (The non spotted one in the other pic was a gift.)

The closer one was baked for 30 minutes, the other was baked for 25 minutes. At 25 minutes, there's a little crispness to the outside of the bread but at 30 minutes it has a thicker and crisper crust.

Homemade French bread Cheesy

I put a lot of scores in it so that we could just tear off chunks of it.

40  Drawstring deck bags + thread catcher (it's sort of a bag) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by RedheadWithThread on: July 16, 2017 01:52:09 PM
The owner of my local game shop asked if I could make some bags for him to give out as prizes at his next Pokemon tournament. He specified that he wanted "deck box bags": drawstring bags large enough to hold a standard sized deck box with enough room for counters and coins. I told him that I could as soon as I headed to JoAnn Fabrics (it's five minutes from his shop).
So a trip to JoAnn's and a few hours later and I had five bags for him. Yes, he asked for four but I made an extra for him because he LOVES Pokemon, especially Pikachu. Smiley

The bags together:

Close-up of one (looks nicer off my red couch):

Doctor Who bag:

A friend saw the deck bags at the LGS and asked if I could custom make one for him. He wanted it tall enough to fit his EDH deck box. Since EDH boxes hold 100 cards and have a compartment in the bottom for storing dice, they're a bit bigger/taller than a standard deck box, which holds 60 cards, which means I had to modify the pattern. I realize the Tardis print is upside-down but it's right-side up on the other side: the bag is cut on a fold so that there's not a seam along the bottom to allow the box to sit flat.

Thread catcher:

The first bag I made, I goofed in my math and accidentally made it too short to add a drawstring. So instead of jury-rigging it to make it tall enough, I decided I would use it as a thread catcher since I needed one anyway.
