Project Name: Skulls and roses oven mitts
My husband sometimes helps me in the kitchen (he can't cook very well) but the spiderweb mitts I made barely fit him. So I reprinted the pattern just 5% larger and sewed these to match my skulls and roses apron. He was happy to receive them because he likes helping out and he really likes the skulls and roses print.

Did you use regular quilt batting, or some special heat-resistant stuff?

I used some regular cotton batting plus Insul-Brite inside them (the Insul-Brite said to use the batting, too). They're very thick and definitely heat resistant! My hubs was disappointed that they barely fit him, so I enlarged the pattern to make the next pair.

lindy, I love your essential oils' colorful bottles and adore that cute little Stitch card!

CLM, I love that little pea pod. So cute and simple yet fun! And that mushroom village is really neat! Kinda reminds me of the Smurfs' village Smiley

Here's the second pair of oven mitts, made to match my skulls and roses apron:

I de-stash a bit and my husband turns around and feeds my addiction Roll Eyes

I made these from stash:

I've had that fabric for three/four years, maybe longer. It's not a perfect match, but they look great with the apron CLM sent me <3

I made these to match the apron that CLM sent me when she sent a box of goodies for my little froggy Cheesy

This was a custom order from a friend:

He had a drawstring bag for his play mat but it was made of a super cheap material and was starting to fall apart. So he gave me the bag and asked if I could sew him a new one in the same Pokemon fabric as the bags I had given to our local gaming store.

I made these once before, about two months ago. They didn't turn out right then and still didn't turn out properly. This time was totally my fault though. Tongue They're similar to the chicken bacon ranch ones I made months ago but there's supposed to be pico de gallo on it, no bacon, and no ranch. I had tomato, but forgot cilantro and peppers to make the pico. I had the black beans that go on it though. And I used salsa in place of the pico. They taste okay but hopefully, next time I remember all the ingredients. Also, hopefully next time I won't split my tortilla!

Project Name: Spiderweb oven mitts
Project Link: Coming Soon (after I make another pair)
I had to do a LOT of cutting out for this one: the spiderweb cotton for the outside, the Insul-Brite, the cotton batting, and the cotton canvas for the inner lining/cuff. I made these to match the awesome apron that craftylittlemonkey sent me when she sent a box of goodies for my little guy. They fit me well enough but were a bit snug for my husband. So the next pair I make will have to be a little larger.

I had this cut out for about two weeks before I finally got around to sewing it! Tongue It looks much nicer on but I couldn't get my hubby to take a pic for me.

8  Skulls and roses apron in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by RedheadWithThread on: August 02, 2017 07:51:08 PM
I love cooking and baking and I love aprons.
But you wouldn't know it if you visited: I have one apron that craftylittlemonkey gifted me when she sent me goodies for my sprog (if you're reading this CLM, thanks again! Kiss).
So I decided I needed to make myself another apron and set about finding a pattern. I found this one on Craftsy that only uses one yard of fabric to make a simple apron. I didn't put a pocket on it because I didn't feel like fussy cutting Tongue Also, I made a loop for the top instead of ties for around the neck. I hate aprons that tie around the neck.

I hope to update with a photo of me wearing it, if I can get my hubs to take a pic for me.
As soon as I get myself some cotton batting, I'm going to make a matching pair of oven mitts, as well as a pair of oven mitts to match the apron CLM gave me.

Finally got around to sewing myself an apron! Cheesy I'm going to make mitts to match, just as soon as I get some cotton batting (I can't find the flannel I had; I may have given it to my mom).

The print is from JoAnn's and seems to be no longer available Sad (I mention this because I had a friend ask about the print when I found it and showed her.)

The recipe for this came out of a book. It used to be a library book (it had a little pocket for the little stamp slip in the front but it came out) at some point before being donated to Goodwill. The bread tastes delicious and went great with our spaghetti dinner. I put lots of scores so we could just rip off chunks of the bread Smiley
