2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Spring Break FOs! on: March 20, 2007 07:33:14 PM
Why would I do a silly thing like catch up on my school work over spring break when I can knit!
Here is a pretty basic 2x2 rib hat in Patons SWS. I'm in love with this yarn, the colorway is just so pretty. I haven't found it to be too scratchy like so many have though.

and this is my first lace project the molly headband from IK, made with some left over CF in rue.

Anyone want to join in on making the Chicknits cardigan Twist?

I have some white yarn my mom gave me ages ago that I'm planning to use
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / knitty's petrol vest help! on: December 21, 2005 02:33:38 PM
I'm working on knitty's petrol sweater vest (http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTpetrol.html) for my dad for Christmas. I've finished the back of it, but I don't understand the instructions for the front.  It says do  the armhole shaping the same in the front as for the back, but if I do that then I won't have the right number of stitches when I'm suppose to do the neck shaping.  So am I suppose to do the arm shaping or not?

 Shape Armholes
Cont in patt as set, CO 4 [4, 4, 5, 6] sts at beginning of next 2 rows. 80 [83, 86, 89, 93] sts
Dec 1 st at each end of every RS row a total of 7 [8, 8, 8, 9] times. 66[67, 70, 73, 75] sts
Cont without further shaping until back measures 23 [24, 25, 26, 27] inches from beg.
BO all sts.

Transfer 87 [91, 95, 97, 105] sts for front onto working needle.
Work 2 rows in pattern as set.

NOTE: Read through the next sections before continuing.

Shape Armholes and Neckband
Cont in patt as set, work armhole shaping as for back.
AT THE SAME TIME, when front measures 16 [17, 17.5, 18, 19] inches from beg, prepare to begin neck shaping on next WS row as follows:
Work 43[45, 47, 48, 52] sts in patt, place next st on safety pin, attach a new ball of yarn, work in patt to end.
Working each side separately, work neck shaping as follows:
Next row [RS] First half: Work to last 3 sts, ssk, k1. Second half: K1, k2tog, work to end.
Next row [WS] Work each half without shaping, in patt as set.
Work these 2 rows a total of 13 [14, 14, 15, 16] times. 30[31, 33, 35, 36] sts remain for each half. Cont without further shaping until front measures same as back.
BO all sts.
