3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / First Quilt: Flock of Triangles by Denyse Scmidt on: November 04, 2007 01:16:56 PM
So I just finished binding off my first ever quilt!!! I used the Flock of Triangles pattern from Denyse Scmidt's Quilt-It Kit. I love the pattern and I've learned a lot. I'm moving on to make a queen-size one for my brother-in-law next.

I know it's a bit bunchy and uneven but it's a starting point, right?

Here you can see a corner of the back:

What do you think? Thanks to all the talented ladies on the quilting board--you guys inspired me along the way!

That is so cute! It made me laugh out loud when I first saw it.
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts on: October 14, 2007 04:35:18 PM
I got this book for my birthday at the end of September and I love it! I already ordered some fabric for making the modified log cabin quilt (the last one in the book) for my brother in law's wedding next year.

The pictures are really inspiring, and I found the instructions in the back of the book on quilting to be helpful. I want to make a dozen of the really cute bird ornaments for relatives this year to save money at Christmas time.
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Denyse Schmidt Quilted Eyeglasses Case on: August 27, 2007 02:56:33 PM
Thanks! I am learning how to hand quilt from the kit. I love it--I actually ripped out the first three rows and redid them because my stitches were so horrific at the beginning, but I'm getting better. Really, I swear.

I usually hate sewing, but love the results so I'm forcing myself to learn. I'm hoping that the love of sewing comes later...
7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Denyse Schmidt Quilted Eyeglasses Case on: August 25, 2007 12:58:04 PM
I'm currently working on Denyse Schmidt's "Flock of Triangles" quilt, but because I'm hand-quilting it, it's going to be a while until I'm done! I have a ton of leftover scraps from it though, so I thought I'd make something quickly.

This is her "I Can See Clearly Now Eyeglasses Case" from the Quilt It Kit (and I believe her book as well). I love this kit because each pattern is on a handy card. OK, enough typing, here it is:

10  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Nine-patch charity shop shirts quilt on: July 28, 2007 03:19:25 PM
It's beautiful! I love the idea of using old or thrifted t's, but you can't even tell what they used to be.

Also, the matching pillowcases are great. It looks so comfy.
