1  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / First M&P Soaps! (First Soaps of any kind, really.) Pic Heavy! on: May 03, 2009 08:07:32 PM
I wasn't sure about M&P soaps. I really wanted the "natural" look of the cold process soaps. Did a little research and came up with a basic recipe I LOVED!!! Here are some of my creations!

Ducks. Not sure why I have a film on the outside. Advice?

Round. Real Handmade look.

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Cherry Blossom Pendant on: May 03, 2009 07:57:29 PM
Nothing huge here. Just goofing with poly clay. I haven't done much with it. Always have lots of finger prints. Really don't know how you guys do it!!!

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Kitty Bed! on: May 03, 2009 07:51:15 PM
Made another bed for Lily. The first one she did not like. Exactly the same pattern. I have no idea. She just refused to use it! Seems she really likes this one. YAY!!!

The bed:

Lily not wanting to have her pic taken....
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Purse and iPod Cozy Made From a Sweater.... on: March 04, 2009 07:50:11 PM
I had a sweater. I liked the color but hated how it fit. I saw this post: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=280721.0 and decided to give it a try! Most of the sweater-to-purse recons I found online were just two squares sewn together. I loved what she came up with!

Here's mine:

I never remember a before pic, but I did manage an in-process pic. This was after I drafted the pattern.

Oh, and have you seen what Apple charges for the cozies that look like sweaters!?!?!?!?! Ouch!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Scarf I made for ME! on: March 04, 2009 07:31:06 PM
This one I did for ME! It was knit in the round and is easily 6ft long. Three is my lucky number, so the red has 33 rows, the brown has nine and the green has three. The brown-green-brown pattern is repeated 9 times, and the fringe is grouped in threes.  Grin

6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Cherry Blossom Sewing Machine Cozy, Pin Cushion & Thread Catcher... on: February 16, 2009 09:03:58 PM
I wanted a dust cover for my sewing machine. Making a box shape would have been easy, but I found this pattern online and liked the shape:

I managed the base without issue. The branch took some time but posed no problems, but the flowers!!! I tried several different things, but just didn't like any of them. I looked at pre-fabricated ribbon flowers. They were too expensive. I tried making my own. I didn't like them. Amber said they were too pointy. Smiley I bought some pink fabric to try something else. Then I saw this post: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=290797.0  Perfect!

Here's the cover:

Here's an odd angle (I dunno...) of the pin cushion and thread catcher (with French seams):

I found the bamboo tray in a thrift store--think I've had it for about a year. Love that I'm not throwing my scraps into an empty kleenex box anymore. Tho it was quite handy.

The pin cushion is removable. The thread catcher is held on by velcro:

I'm really pleased with the results!
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Tardis and Calvin & Hobbes on: February 04, 2009 05:34:49 PM
First projects were copied inspired by this:

Here's my take:

I like her blue better, but I haven't dyed anything in YEARS (and never a spiral). I'm still happy with the results.

Since I still had a bowl full of blue dye, I attacked a pair of oldish white pillow cases:

Now I have a shirt that matches my pillow cases.  Grin

Originally, I attempted to dye two shirts with the spiral pattern, but the bands came off one. Which is WHY I dyed two. Smiley

I hate to waste, so:

I LOVE Calvin & Hobbes and was so glad to find a stencil I could use.

YAY!!! (I'm a little sick of freezer paper at the moment....)
8  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Slow Cooker Sweet & Sour Tofu on: February 04, 2009 05:11:25 PM

So easy!

Cube 1lb Extra Firm Tofu. Put in a ziplock with 1 Tablespoon Corn Starch. Shake to cover. Fry in 1 Tablespoon butter till brown and crispy. (Takes a minute!) Cut up four cups veggies (I used broc, carrots and snow peas), and put in pot. Put in tofu and 1 10 oz jar of La Choy Sweet and Sour sauce. Put 1/2 Tablespoon water in jar. Shake and pour over top too. Stir gingerly. Cook on low until veggies are desired tenderness. Mine took 2 hours. SO YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!1

9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Framed bullitan/cork boards. on: February 03, 2009 12:39:06 PM
Inspiration came from this post:

and another I can't find.... Sad

Everything came from my stash!

The large frame was one of my favorites. The smaller one was old and BEAT. I painted it the same color as the ginkgo leaves on the large one and sealed it. I really LOVE this project!
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Strawberry Pouch on: February 03, 2009 12:29:33 PM
Like many others I was inspired by the boring blue pouch that comes with some menstrual cups and this post:

Here's mine:

I love the shine in the red yarn!
