1  Re: Happy Mail 2: The Return of the Doodads Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by dftba on: November 22, 2016 08:29:18 PM
I received from you too, Homerof2!

Here is what I got from Homerof2:

I love that everything has a little sparkle/bling to it -it all suits my tastes so perfectly. I especially loved the pink & gold tag and the little burlap Christmas tree, I thought it was the cutest thing ever!

And from Purplexime, I got:

The lighting here doesn't do it justice, the flower pin is so pretty. And the copper flower on the clay pendant shines beautifully. She also sent a hand-painted envelope and paper tag that I could use for future happy mail Smiley My favorite is probably the tassel necklace, though I love it all!

As for Purplexime's butterflies, I don't have a tutorial. I was inspired by this post on pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/233131718190839276/

There wasn't a tutorial, but I just searched for images of butterflies online for the "top" of the butterfly. I cut out the picture, traced in onto book pages, cut out two from book pages, and then I cut the bottom of the pile out from black cardstock so it would be sturdy. So for each butterfly, there were four layers, shown in-progress here:

Then I glued the layers together. The most useful advice I can offer is not to fold them in half, but to fold the wings up on either side of the body like this (before you glue them):

This gave me a place to glue (I just used a glue stick) without the glue getting on the wings, so the wings could still be fluff'd up after it was glued together (and after being smashed to be mailed). Also, I didn't fold the cardstock layer, so the base would be flat for gluing to other paper crafts like a card. Hopefully that explains it well enough.

I had a blast with this swap, it got me to try out new crafts (like the butterflies and puzzle pieces) and I loved coming home to happy mail. I home everyone had just as much fun with it as I did!

2  Re: Pendent Swap 2014 - Gallery!!!! in The Swap Gallery by dftba on: July 20, 2014 04:36:36 PM
Sorry it took me so long to post photos! I was in both group 1 and group 6, so here are my pendants from both groups:

From luckdragon I got an this really cute embroidered fish; from onyxnox I got a steam-punk metal book (the pages on the inside are decorated and readable too!) and a leather flower as an extra; from artmomto5 I got a super adorable vintage-themed pendant made from actual vintage lace; and from artsycandice, I got two awesome pendants (we were in two groups together), one with gears and two little bird charms and a pink embroidered flower pendant.

From rscowtown I got a pink bottle cap with a clock charm (this picture doesn't do it justice, the clock charm is super cute); from IsikahJai I got a really pretty wire heart; and from Im Sew Silly I got a heart pendant with beads dangling off it (you can't really tell in this picture, but the little beads are wire wrapped too; there is lots of detail in this pendant).

Thanks guys! I love all of them!

If any of you have better pictures of you pendants, feel free to post them!

3  Re: Valentine Hearts Gallery in The Swap Gallery by dftba on: February 04, 2014 08:00:43 PM
I got my hearts from .:.Lola.:.!

She sent me a lego heart necklace, an embroidered heart, and a tardis heart coin purse. She also sent me a really cute catnip heart toy for my kitten (who has already run off with it, so it didn't make it into the pictures lol) and some valentines candy. I absolutely love everything she sent! I couldn't pick a favorite heart if I tried.

Just thought I'd take a second to post a picture of Jax. Here he is at a local festival. The picture isn't great, but it was near-impossible to get good photos with as crowded as it was.

This is a little late, but here's Alby in my flooded basement for the Weather Challenge. Yay, fun times. Tongue

Eee! That does not look like fun at all! I've had a basement flood, it was lots of work and clean up.

6  Re: Little Visitor Swap 17 (Sign Ups Closed, Send Outs 04/01) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by dftba on: April 02, 2013 01:10:30 PM
I know I already posted a pic of Jax, but I thought I'd reintroduce him with his new piercings. He is very proud Smiley He has two studs in his right ear, two rings in his left, two on his tail, and one on his right paw. We're excited to see if dftba decides to add anything else Tongue

Can't wait to see him! We're going to have all kinds of fun adventures while he's visiting!

Got my package from edenkitty. She sent me two pairs of earrings (one red/gold for Iron Man and one green/gold for Loki). She also sent a beautiful green necklace (also Loki inspired - definately my favorite of the three things). The picture makes them look dark, but they are really more colorful and bright (and prettier, in my opinion) in real life.

Thank you, edenkitty!
