31  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap - February 2013 GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by littlecircles on: February 19, 2013 05:57:57 PM
Yeah!  I am glad you like it - I had so much fun making it.  My son loved it it so much I had to make him a similar  robot as soon as I shipped yours out Smiley

I am equally as thrilled to have received my beautiful abstract bird from fancybutch!  I love him so much.  Thank you very much for the card and for hooking me on this ATC goodness. Now I just have to figure out where to get an ATC gallery matte...

32  'Heart Throb' Quilled Paper Earrings in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by littlecircles on: February 14, 2013 12:04:49 AM
I make paper earrings all the time, but in honor of Valentine's, I thought I share these.  I made a tutorial that I'd love to share but I cannot really figure out what the rules are in that regard as it is a PDF and does contain links and such to my site as well as the sites I used to buy my supplies.  If I can figure it out and do it without getting into deep water, I will Smiley

Happy Valentine's day Craftster friends!

33  Finished! 3rd quilled mosaic for collector 'Shannon's Perfect Tree' in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by littlecircles on: February 08, 2013 11:52:18 AM
My hands are aching!  I have been rolling so intensely for the past few weeks.  I finished the 8 x 10 that completes (for now) the collection of my friend.

My friend gave me a picture for inspiration for this tree along with a small description of it's meaning.  They live in mid Michigan and each time they drive North they stop before this large tree.  The kids call it Mom's perfect tree.  He also noted that 'You should see the tree in Fall!  Holy smokes!"  Well, that was all it took and I was off and rolling.

No matter how I have tried, I cannot get the colors right in a photo.  The oranges are brighter and the color overall has much more depth.  As always, the picture is better in person.  I just got Adobe Light Box - but I have no idea how to use it.

Here is the picture my friend sent for inspiration:

And here are all three pictures my friend has collected from me together.  I used many of the same colors in all three since they will be displayed together.  I hope they all work.

34  Put a bird on it. in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by littlecircles on: February 05, 2013 12:47:09 PM
I finished this picture a couple of days ago - it was inspired by a friend of mine while discussing the apparent lack birds being featured in my work.  Everything is better with a bird on it.  If you don't believe me, google Portlandia 'Put a bird on it'.  So funny.

35  Newly finished quilled art work in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by littlecircles on: February 04, 2013 12:05:26 PM
I was commissioned by an old friend to do two pictures for him and his wife.  They have a small piece from me and are now starting to collect.  They want all three pieces to be nature in theme and be bright and bold.  The first work they bought from me was a 5 x 7" retro flower picture that I often do variations of because they are so popular.  This go round they requested a 6 x 8" and an 8 x 10".  The 6 x 8 was left entirely up to me.  The following pictures are of what I came up with.  I just finished last night.  I am pretty happy with the finished effect.  I used all of the colors that I used in their previous picture plus many additional. I plan on incorporating this element in the third as well.  The couple plan on hanging their collection as a grouping - and while they will all be different in subject and perhaps even stylistically, there will at least be a little similarity amongst them all.  I have sent off photos to him but have year to hear back as to whether or not he likes the work.  I hope it is a yes... then I can get started on the next one Smiley

Here is a photo of the first piece:
