41  Re: Handmade Rubber Stamps Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Sarcastra on: January 11, 2008 06:08:57 PM
I received my stamp(s) from MunLtStmpr today and I'm sorry to everyone on dial up, because this stamp is so awesome I have to post three pictures to explain it.

First of all, the packaging was fun!

Look at all those stars!  They make great padding; only a couple got squished and they popped right back up with a touch.

Then, behold the fact that MunLtStmpr carved onto a rubber cube (die) for a total of FOUR stamps in one!  Four!  Four cool stamps, just for me!

Here is a mosaic to show all four carved sides.  I don't know how she carved such incredibly small details.  They are tiny.  The cube is just under an inch and she got such fine details as Jon Stewart's eyebrows and astronaut suit wrinkles.  Incredible.

Here is what they stamp like (paper tilted a bit, squares are actually square IRL):

I couldn't stop saying "wow".  All four stamps are perfect.  And she did some smart stalking, because I love all the subjects she chose, plus I now have a screen name stamp!

Thank you very much MunLtStmpr for the great stamps.  You are an incredible carver and I hope my comparatively meager skills will at least entertain you when you get your stamp!

I got my inchies from Rackycoo today:

That bunny in the middle is my favorite.  I love him - so darling!

Thanks Rackycoo!

I have received from my second Angel, inle_rah last night as I was putting on green face makeup for the trick-or-treaters.  I love, love, LOVE my mobile!

Here is a crappy photo:

Believe me, it looks much better IRL.  It is sparkly and all the runes are in raised silver.  Those little brass bells make a perfect, light tinkling sound and the stars spin when it hangs free of the wall.  I love it, it is wonderful.  Thank you inle_rah for coming through for me.  This mobile will get center stage hanging position in my workshop/office.  You are a wonderful crafter and Angel!

I got my great package from GougeAway today.

First off, a small diorama and a mini-Moleskine (I'm a big fan) with transfers on the covers and ...

... on various pages as well.  This will fit right into my little purse for daily doodles.

A pair of pendants I just love.  These are both double sided and perfect for me to wear out and about.

A TMNT cuff and some local items (we did our small items as a taste from around our towns) including a tangerine soap that smells so good I want to lick it, a mint scrub bar, a walking tour map of downtown Portland and a postcard for Powell's bookstore (how I wish I were near one!).

Saved my favoritist for last:

Despite GougeAway and I having fairly different tastes, this is EXACTLY something I would find on Etsy in the middle of the night, squeal with delight and immediately purchase.  I've got to get just the right frame for it to hang in my workshop.  Lovely.

Thank you so much GougeAway.  You made me some top notch items!

I received my goodies from EowynUlysses today!

She sent me a red cotton tote (upper right), just the right size for a book or a few magazines.  It has large pockets on the inside and outside.
(Lower left) I got a beautiful knitted purse in red.  It has cables Cool, lining and pockets with a painted FSM and zips closed.  It is lurvely and I will use it very soon.
On the lower right, she made me a pair of wrist/handwarmers.  I love them!  They came with FSM ribbons that fit on the bottom edge.  My desk has a cold-retaining top and in the winter I fear my mouse hand is going to get frostbite.  I'm stashing them away for now, but come fall they will get heavy use!

Thank you so much, EowynUlysses.  You are an excellent knitter, BTW.  I keep fondling those cables!

Was craftster down this morning?  It kept timing out when I was hoping to post photos of all my cool stuff!

Here are most of the goodies in a smaller picture:

Ghostgirl and I tend towards a more gothy holdiay style, in case you were wondering.  She sent me a beautiful, handstitched patchwork stocking.  The patches are mostly velvet, which it is lined in as well.  At the top, leather laces the fur trim together and the ends have skull charms dangling from them.  The same skull design makes a jewelry set in the middle photo.  She also created this bad elf character just for me!  The votive holder has the elf molded to a plaque shaped to the glass.  Bad elf also appears on his own ornament next to his friend, the boozy smowman - I love these guys!

Not in the picture is a matching card and a CD of "Santaland Diaries" by David Sedaris, which I hope to listen to today while it is quiet at work.  Ghostgirl also included a bunch of candy, which couldn't be photographed due to the fact that is was strewn all over my house in various states of being devoured.  And of course, everything came packaged in red and silver (I'm going to have to find some of that) tissue which made unpacking fun.

Ghostgirl, I cannot believe you handstitched that whole beautiful stocking.  You did such a good job on it and I love it.  I love everything you sent, it is great.  Now I'm going to have to make a tree so I can put up those ornaments this winter.

47  Re: Little Vistor Swap Round 4 Gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by Sarcastra on: October 02, 2006 12:10:30 AM
I received my package from Listy, who generously volunteered to be my angel after my original partner flaked.

Here is the shot of everything together.  The fresh Hughbert is the center of attention in this shot.  To the right are two crocheted blankets for him since he gets cold easily (how funny!) and behind them is a plethora of postcards depicting the sites and humor of San Francisco.  Listy made a sweet journal with photos of her travels with Hughbert to all sorts of interesting, artistic, literary and open-minded locations and celebrations.  She also sent along a map and schedule of the BART transportation system, a pass, lots of brochures about the city and sites, a pencil from the library and a variety of souvenirs.  I don't know what the metal peace sign is exactly, but it is pretty neat.

Listy also made a gnome costume for Hughbert so he could serve as a replacement for the original stuffy I sent out, which was not returned.  While it was cute of him, Hughbert and I discussed the issue and I told him I would love him just how he was.  We may be adding a piece of trim to turn it into a Santa costume.  (This strikes me as especially funny since penguins are south pole and Santa is north pole, but I'm weird so...)

Thank you for stepping in and taking part, Listy.  I appreciate it.  Now he can participate in the upcoming Round five as well.

Here's an obvious little teaser...

Lorena seems to like her little cowboy hat - or she may have been humoring me!

49  Re: I <3 Paisley Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Sarcastra on: July 06, 2006 09:09:27 PM
My partner has received, so here are shots of what I sent.

A melted bead bowl, inspired by the recent fad here on craftster.

A mini-tote-like purse.  I couldn't find fabric to match her tastes so I appliqued paisleys in the right shape and color onto fabric then embellished with stitching and fabric paint.

A pair of little notepads with paisley and normal papers.

A wallet with a snap for snugness.

Just because I'm fiendishly excited about my new button machine.

This has been a nice swap guys.

I received from floara yesterday. I discovered the box in the midst of a torrential downpour and flash flood sirens, but it was just fine if a little wet and muddy.

All the items together.  A fantastic and inspired peacock of paisleys on a pillow case on the left.  In the middle is a hand embroidered paisley on fabric for me to use as I wish.  On the right is a huge (this thing is over a yard square) of soft silk paisley scarf she found.  I wish I could express online how very soft this silk feels.

Okay, I can't stop looking at this embroiderey, so here is another shot:

Thank you much folara.  You do good work.

Edited because I left words out!
