312  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Polymer Clay Mermaid Mask: Light, Wearable, Vegan on: September 25, 2012 02:12:43 PM
Ah, sneaky sneaky! lol did you spray it with something after to make the powder stay on?

actually, when u apply the powder BEFORE baking, it makes a permanent bond (however, still need to avoid swimming with the mask on, on wearing during sports---not that one would do either wearing the mask, but still).

when u apply powders or acrylic paints BEFORE baking, makes a more permanent bond, and needs no sealing. however, when applied after curing, must be sealed with a product
313  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Rockabilly Candy-Colored Skull Necklace: Polymer Clay on: September 25, 2012 02:10:39 PM
Created this necklace as a Halloween/birthday gift for my niece--she loves Monster High and other spooky stuff--colorful and funky skulls and stuff.

Made the polymer clay skulls out of Sculpey Pistachio clay, and make the other wrap beads and focal beads with more colors of Sculpey, glass seed bead spacers, and button-loop closure!

I am so happy with it, I am making MORE! Kind of rockabilly inspired!

Everything is cuter with a baby pumpkin:

Thanks for looking! Smiley
314  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Halloween: Cute Skull Stud Earrings: Polymer Clay on: September 25, 2012 01:32:05 PM
I am having so much fun making these as Halloween gifts for people. I make them out of polymer clay, forming a small ball of clay around a stud base, flattening, and then texturing to make these cute skulls.

Easy to make, and light to wear. Happy Halloween everyone!!! Smiley

Thanks for looking!!! Smiley

Very beautiful...love the colors too.
When you painted it, did you airbrush for the purple fading or just brush it?

thanks so much for all the feedback!!! Smiley

actually, the CLAY is purple, and the GOLD is brushed on metallic powder.... very crafty and sneaky of me, no? Smiley

318  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Celtic Knots And Water Mixable Oils on: September 22, 2012 11:48:27 AM
as far as water mixable oils on clay--what was it like working with those paints? if you've used acrylic on clay, would you say these oils are better/worse in any way?

320  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: The (new) Etsy critique thread! on: September 22, 2012 06:24:19 AM

Been selling on Etsy a few months, some sales, but not as much as I'd hoped. High quality handmade items, reasonable prices (maybe too low?), correct grammar and good photos. Feeling stumped as to how to take my shop to the next level...

Any advice or criticisms is more than welcome--thanks!!!
