1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Minecraft Creeper Tie on: March 12, 2013 03:04:47 PM
I originally made this tie just for my boyfriend as he loves minecraft, but it seems to be my most liked item! I guess I should thank him for that xD

Here he is looking all smart and nerdy in it Smiley

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Winter Cape on: February 12, 2013 07:43:27 AM
I've always wanted a cape and I've always wanted something with a big hood. Unfortunately I could never find any of these things on something I really liked and so I decided to set myself a challenge and make my own hooded cape! It's not quite finished yet (the front just needs neatening up and the turning hole closed) but I couldn't resist taking pictures in the snow!

As you can see, the front is pinned and needs neatening so that the lining doesn't show.

Looove the hood! Exactly what I wanted! (although maybe a little too deep as it falls down, covering my eyes, sometimes)

So much fun to twirl in! I love showing off the lining too!

I've gone into more detail on my blog here : http://thepenguintheory.wordpress.com/2013/02/12/winter-cape/

Hope you all like it!
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Just some of my Jewellery on: January 13, 2013 09:06:57 AM

A fish and faux pearl necklace

Here are some of my jewellery creations! Please let me know what you think Smiley (sorry the pictures are rather large).

Venetian Glass Earrings

Squiggly orange earrings. Inspired by some squiggly branches I found.

Another nature inspired item. A pearl and shell bracelet.

There's lots more where these came from despite not making much jewellery lately (i've been concentrating on sewing!). Hopefully I can get some more inspiration for jewellery soon!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I Really Want to be Able to Sew Clothes- Where do I Start? on: January 13, 2013 08:28:36 AM
I really want to be able to sew clothes like some of the fabulous garments I see on here. I've made aprons and skirts so far but feel I need to challenge myself if I ever want to get to my goal. The thing is I'm not sure where to go next!

What did you do when you started learning? Are there any good (preferably free or at least cheap, i'm rather broke) tutorials and patterns that could help a beginner like me? Any tips and things you've learnt to do/not to do along the way? Is it worth the price for attending a sewing course?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Smiley
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Pink Polkadot skirt on: November 18, 2012 04:13:04 PM
I decided I wanted to make a little girls skirt and came up with this! When I finished I actually squealed! I'm pretty proud of myself for making this Smiley

6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Cupcake Apron (a little picture heavy...) on: October 13, 2012 04:47:13 AM
It was my cousins birthday and I'd heard that she was really into cooking at the moment so I thought I'd make her an apron!.

I had a look around and found this adorable cupcake material which I thought would be perfect! Here's the finished product:

Full apron

Close up

Trying it on. You can see some of the lining here. Smiley

A bit of room to grow but fits pretty well Smiley

I also bought her a cupcake cooking book to match. She seemed excited to bake some cupcakes in her new apron so I would say it was a hit! Smiley
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Batman Apron on: October 10, 2012 01:21:24 PM
My boyfriend said he wanted an apron so I agreed to make him one. I somehow found some amazing batman fabric (he loves batman) in a bargain bin and knew I had to buy it!

These are the results:

The material and myself in the apron

My boyfriend putting it to good use!

Unfortunately the neck strap isn't long enough, i'm trying to work out a way I can lengthen it without taking the whole thing apart but it will do for now. He loves it so that's all that matters Smiley
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Flowered Top to Flowered Skirt! (Link to my tutorial too) on: September 17, 2012 04:36:40 AM
I've just discovered Craftster and think i will soon be obsessed with this site! xD

A few weeks ago I decided to take apart an old top which didn't fit me very well and make it into a skirt. Here's the results:

I also made a little tutorial for it on my blog if anyone's interested Smiley
