1  super easy, cheap and practical newsprint wallet [img heavyish] in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by jellyfish8706 on: March 29, 2007 04:15:28 PM
I made this wallet out of a piece of newsprint glued to a piece of construction paper for added stability.  I can definitely add a tut if any body is interested.  just say the word!

It took me about 5 minutes to make and cost me a grand total of zero dollars.. which is good because i'm a broke college student.  Hope you like it!

2  Finally finished my Jolly Roger!! in Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller by jellyfish8706 on: January 15, 2007 10:48:27 PM
I've been working on this forever! It was supposed to be and xmas present for my bf, but I foolishly trusted him to measure himself and it ended up being entirely too small.  Several alerations later and it's finally ready to be shown off and for him to take it off my hands.  Here it is:

Close up of the ribbing I added to the bottom to lengthen the sleeves to mend the boy's botched measurements.

Thanks for looking! I'm so glad it's finally finished!

3  Re: future betta fish owner with a couple of questions (pics added!) in Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions by jellyfish8706 on: January 13, 2007 03:58:10 PM
The vase has a volume of about 3 liters.  I have no idea of what that is in gallons, but my mom used to have one in a similar vase and it lived for a long time.  Thanks very much for all of your advice. I'm off to petco =) And thanks to Monkey Thumb for that website.  I forgot that Bettas were jumpers, so right before I left I crocheted a topper for my vase like the ones on the site you sent me.

And now, herehe is in all of his little fishyness!

4  future betta fish owner with a couple of questions in Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions by jellyfish8706 on: January 13, 2007 01:07:13 PM
So, I think I'm going to get a betta fish either this weekend or the next, but i don't want just a round bowl with a couple of rocks and a fish.  I have a couple ideas, but i would love some input.

Do you think a decorative vase or something along those lines would be ok?  Here's a picture of one that I currently have in my dorm room:

Maybe with some colored glass stones in the bottom? I'm not a big fan of the pebbles, and they make a big dusty mess.

I've never had fish before, but I know bettas are pretty hardy and can live in pretty small spaces, but that's about the extent of my knowledge.

Also, I don't know if this will get me in trouble, but do I need a heater, or something to add air to the water in the tank for a betta??

Thanks so much!!!

5  my first sweater in Crochet: Completed Projects by jellyfish8706 on: December 02, 2006 02:51:04 PM
Made with no pattern and a little inspiration from Victoria's Secret

I'll get better pics on my parent's real digital camera (these are from my webcam) when I go home for break.

I've finally finished!!! Ok, so I made it to be worn like a wrap, but today I didn't really feel like it.  Here's the pics!

Sorry the pics are kind of shady.  Poor college student=no digital camera.  They're taken on my webcam.  I'll post more pics soon of it being worn like it's intended.

So, what do you think?

8  my own version of the pda in Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller by jellyfish8706 on: October 26, 2006 10:18:29 AM
So.. I'm the kind of person who views patterns more like guidelines than rules.  I made a pda straight from the pattern once, but the holes really didn't do it for me.  I accidentally ordered some chunky wool yarn instead of worsted weight, so i decided to have another go at this hat, with a few personal touches.  I added a string instead of a button and left out the shells.  There were also a few minor modifications that had to be made for the weight of the yarn, but all in all I'm pretty satisfied!!

9  modified froufrou... do you think this could work? in Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller by jellyfish8706 on: October 26, 2006 10:08:45 AM
So, I was reading my victorias secret catalog today and decided that i absolutely cannot live without this sweater

I think the shape is pretty similar to the frou frou from the stitch and bitch book. Do you think it would be practical to try and modify that pattern to work for this one?? Has anyone made it before that can give me a few pointers??

10  thread memento board in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by jellyfish8706 on: August 06, 2006 04:01:50 PM
A coworker of mine bought this from craft and barrel

I really liked it, but given that I just quit that job and that I leave for college in a week, I can't really justify blowing $40 on a bulliten board.  For that reason, I decided to make my own. He didn't think I could do it, but I did, and here it is:

It's cute, and it elimnates the need for push pins!
