1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Shop bought pattern on: June 17, 2012 12:42:15 PM
Hi.
I'm just wondering what people generally do with shop bought patterns.  Do you cut them or trace them?

I'm always frightened to cut into them, so I trace them onto freezer paper and use that.

It would definatle save valuable time cutting straight into the pattern sheets but what if your sizes alters?
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Serger or Coverstitch machine on: May 29, 2012 09:21:59 AM
With only a budget to buy one machine, would you you buy a serger or a coverstitch machine.  Im not sure what to go for.

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / What is your preferred stitch to work with? on: December 13, 2009 10:43:03 PM
Im an absolute beginner and its like I'm almost frightened to start my project because I dont know whether to use the back stitch or the split stitch.

Which do you suggest I use?

Also, what length do you usually make your stitches?

I bought a pattern from Sublime Stitching, I cant wait to get started!

Thank you.

This is a little halterneck I made with my favourite fabric.  I only bought a meter of it, I MUST get some more its delicious!!

I tried to make a little pair of linen trousers to team with the halterneck, but I got into too much of a fiddle with them.  I really need to practice on making trousers... any tips?
6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Just finished this dress, what do you think? on: January 28, 2009 11:58:37 AM
Do you mind if I share with you my creation.  I'm very proud of this dress.  Its an adaption of a McCalls pattern, where i elongated the bodice and added a velvet trim.
