1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Chain Scarf with Bobbles on: October 08, 2012 01:12:54 AM
Hi everyone! I've crocheted my first scarf, yay! It was a very easy pattern so it didn't take me long to make, especially since I didn't make mine as thick. Here's the pattern if anyone's interested: http://www.abc-knitting-patterns.com/1132.html

2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Hawk! on: September 13, 2012 12:36:04 AM
Hey guys! I've designed my first ever amigurumi pattern & I wanted to share! My Dad & I follow AFL (Australian Football League) and our favourite footy team is the Hawthorn Hawks.

The grand final is coming up in a couple of weeks & we're currently top of the ladder so I wanted to make Dad a Hawk as a good luck charm for us to win! The Hawks wear yellow & brown striped guernseys, which is why I added yellow to the wing and tail feathers. Hope you like it!

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Pattern reading help on: August 18, 2012 02:55:16 AM
Hi, I've been crocheting for a little while now but up until now I've made amigurumi using rounds & my friend has just started crocheting & she's asked me to help her make this pattern:
I did row 1 fine but I got stuck on row 2. I got confused about how to turn the crocheting (wasn't sure whether it should be flipped vertically or horizontally) & also in row 2, which is:
Row 2: (Ch 3, dc) in same st, (2 dc) each in next 5 dc. Turn. (12 sts)
I've been told that "ch 3, dc" means that 3 chains counts as a dc. It doesn't make sense to me but I understand that that is what the pattern is saying (unless I was told wrong) but I don't understand the next part. Which stitch do I do the next 2 dc? Do I do it in the first chain that I made at the start of the row or somewhere else?
The third row also doesn't make sense to me:
Row 3: (Ch 3, dc) in same st, 1 dc in next st. [(2 dc), 1 dc] 5 times. (18 sts). Dont break off.
I'd really appreciate any help I could get!
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Can someone help me? on: August 03, 2012 04:59:13 PM
Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum & fairly new to crochet too. I know how to make amigurumi but I want to branch out into other forms of crochet & I've found a scarf that I love but I'm not sure how to start it. Does the foundation chain go down the middle of the scarf as long as you want the scarf to be & then crochet on either side of that chain or does the chain stay on one edge of the scarf & then you crochet on one side of the chain only to expand the scarfs width or do you make the chain the width that you want the scarf to be & go from there?

As you can see I have no idea, I only know how to crochet in rounds. Here is the pattern & a photo of the scarf I want to attempt, I think it may have come from this site originally but I don't know who wrote the pattern & I don't have the link sorry, I found this on another forum.

ETA: http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showthread.php?p=927415 (if this is not the correct original source for this pattern, please let me know and I'll fix it - fantasticmio)

Can someone please explain to me how to get started?
