22  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Wanted: Fifties Housewives! on: November 12, 2007 06:17:16 PM
I'm working on an ironic piece for class, and I'd really love a couple of maniacally happy fifties ladies. I know I've seen some great crafts that have used pictures similar to what I'm thinking, but does anyone know a good web resource, or even just a great picture you can post?

It would be highly appreciated!

24  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Historical Figures swap Gallery on: September 27, 2007 01:14:14 PM
Ok, so receiving day had its ups and downs.

Up: OMG, there is a package almost bigger than I am, and it's for me!

Up: Omgomgomg I see something shiny!

Down: BROKEN?? DAMN YOU USPS! *shake fist at sky*

Yes, unfortunately, my awesomeness loot took a bit of bashing on the way here.  Cry

I cried on the inside. Dancingrabbit stenciled on "video et taceo," on the broken mirror, which I  ADORE. (Elizabeth the I, "I see and keep silent") I think I'll get some new glass cut for the gorgeous frame, and maybe place that shard down at the bottom of the frame.

But the rest of the stash was fine, as you can see, and I'm adoring it all. THANK YOU SO MUCH DANCINGRABBIT!

Oh, btw, I'm not going to have internet access for a week starting the 27th. I don't know if we'll receive partners before or after that, but just fyi, If I don't respond to a pm, it's not cause I'm flaking Smiley

Wow, a lot of people have joined.

The more the merrier! Smiley

Yeah, I like the memento idea a lot. Ack! I'm getting too inspired. Must go channel it into something non-swap.

Those are so adorable! And would be a great use for old greeting cards...

Did you use some sort of gloss on top? (I'm trying to figure out if I can make my own Smiley )

Yay! I just sent my info. I'm hyped.

I wonder what the ratio of female to male figures will be. Did anyone else   end up with mostly women?

30  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: stretch hooded/cowl neck dress (5 pics) +TUTORIAL. on: July 04, 2007 06:50:57 PM
Beautiful dress!  Smiley

I came across this and thought it would be the perfect thing to try with some bronze and olive knit material of mine. It's my first thing sew minus a pattern, so I'm a bit confused about the sleeves. I know the shape that a sleeve generally needs to be, but how do you draft a sleeve that fits the armhole that you have? Did you just sew tubes for the sleeves?

Thanks  Smiley
