21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: a different take on the popular bookmark swap... on: October 05, 2005 12:39:05 AM
I'd kinda like to send and receive with multiple people. You know, different tastes and all that! Plus, if you accidentally ended up with more than one for the same book, the different approaches would be pretty cool, and you could take it as a ringing endorsement!

Either way, I think 4 or 5 would be fine. And the dates sound great, as my first swap's feedback will be up in time!
22  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: THE cutest baby booties EVER! NOW WITH HAT!!! on: October 01, 2005 11:10:12 PM
I just went through all 24 pages of this thread admiring all your gorgeous booties!

I know there was an adult scale-up posted, and was wondering if anyone had done it?

is that a life sized jack the pumpkin king in santa suit behind you? Grin

I was smitten by the bag and Jack at the same time, too. I wasn't sure which to admire first...
24  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Funny present, or sick? (Birthaids!) on: October 01, 2005 10:19:59 PM
I think the bottom line, though, is that there is nothing wrong with selling the AIDS thing on your site. In group, potentially funny. Given as a hostile gesture, effective. Funny or not, I have to think there is a market for this item. For vials, try http://www.pilotvials.com/. They have a variety of clear and amber vials in different sizes.
25  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Branching Out scarf knit-along on: October 01, 2005 08:32:39 PM
Would it be kosher to modify this pattern into a baby blanket? I think it would look really nice...

The only thing I would worry about is that little fingers and toes might get all caught up in the holes in the pattern.

My mum taught me agaes ago that babies tend to like putting their fingers through the holes in blankets; certainly my little nephews were constantly doing it with the blankets I knitted for them. A security thing, I guess. So far, no problems on that front (THANK GOODNESS). Wink

I'd be in, as long as it doesn't start up for a couple of weeks. I'm still on my first ever swap and can't take on another yet.

This is way cool - I think I want to try it with Chinese newspapers, maybe using black twill tape to define the edges... what do you think?
