1  ASIA / Japan / Any crafters in Yamaguchi??? on: June 26, 2007 06:32:45 AM
I know that this is a crazy and kinda silly question but I thought I would ask anyways on the off chance, but is there any crafters near by even remotely close?? I am living in Yamaguchi city and arrived here about a month ago and am staying for a year. I am here teaching English to kids which is great. I am just in the process of buying a sewing machine and I can't wait cause there is a ridiculous amount of cool fabric over here!! Well give me a shout if any one is interested in a get together!!
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / It is now a finished Marilyn perler project!! on: December 14, 2006 11:25:36 PM
I am doing a portrait of marilyn monroe out of perler beads for my sister for x-mas and this is the just about finished version. I still have to piece it together properly and frame it but I have everything coming for the frame so it should be done pretty quick and I will post a finished product as soon as I am done.

finished product finally!!!

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Ideas for a birdy quilt?? on: December 10, 2006 11:18:27 PM
I am thinking of making a quilt with kind of a bird theme. I have never actually done a quilt before and came across a beautiful really unique one at a craft fair last weekend and have since become inspired. I was thinking I could do the majority of my images silk screened, embroidered or patchwork. I am now on the hunt for images and ideas and was thinking that maybe you guys could help me out. Even if it is like a birds nest or a worm (bird food) just anything that you think would be a cool addition to the quilt that would help out heaps. If it is an image if you could PM me a decent size pic that would be peachy. I have already started off a patch and will post it as soon as it's done. Ooooh I can't wait to get things going.

here's a bit of an update it's my first patch hopefully this will get the ball rolling:

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / arghh the scurviest sock monkey you ever did see!! on: November 24, 2006 09:40:12 PM
I made this pirate sock monkey for a friend. It is kind of a joke he was going to work on a cruise ship and right before he went out on the ship there was a cruise that got taken over by pirates so I decided he needed a pirate friend so he could fit in just incase they ransacked his ship. So here my friends is "Pepe" das piraten or for those of you who don't speak German Pepe the pirate.

Pepe chillin!!

Pepe rockin out on the guitar!!

How did this one get in here this is Pepe's private time!!
5  California / California: South / cool places to see from Seattle to San Diego?? on: October 01, 2006 01:48:25 PM
Hello all!!
I am headed on a road trip from Vancouver, Canada and my finally stop on the line will be San Diego we are taking the Oregon Coast down and the I5 back (with stops for sure in San Fran, LA, Anaheim and possibly Portland) I was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind pointing me in the direction of cool things to stop at and admire. I am going to be leaving on Oct. 8th and going down for 2 weeks and have a very loose agenda so if there is any cool events going on if you could let me know that would be peachy. I can't wait to head out on the road. Thanks heaps!!
6  CANADA / British Columbia / Anyone interested in learning to Silk Screen in Vancouver??? on: April 07, 2006 10:27:21 PM
Hey guys and gals!!
I just wanted to give all you Vancouverites a heads up, I have just taken a couple classes at Blim, which is located at #197 East 17th @ Main and I had such an awesome experience learning to silk screen. It's a really laid back artsy atmosphere and I thoroughly recommend it for any one looking to get into silk screening. Hope you all enjoy and get back to me if you have questions.

PS they are just closed for a little spring cleaning but will be back and running May 1st
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / how to finish off a ribbon scarf?? on: July 07, 2005 09:35:37 PM
Hey I am just in the works of finishing off a ribbon scarf and was just wondering how the hell im gonna finish off the ends so the ribbons don't unravel themselves but didnt really want to finish it off just in a straight line I wanted to let the ribbons hang by themselves I dont know if that maid any sense at all but yeah maybe I can explain this better hmm................. Ok so i made a ribbon scarf by pinning down a bunch of ribbons on tear away interfacing and then sewing across all the ribbons to keep them together and then I am just about to tear away the interfacing but I am trying to think of some clever way to finish off the ends so that it isnt just a straight across hem I still want all the ribbons to hang seperately but i need to some how in a way seal them off!! Any good ideas sorry if I still dont make any sense thanks a bunch
