2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My New Drawers!!! with mini tutorial:) on: March 24, 2011 01:14:39 PM
Old unlined drawers + free time + TONS of fabric left over from other projects = my new favorite piece of furniture:)

  • Cardboard from cereal boxes
  • Hot glue
  • Fabric of choice!

I decided a nice leafy print would look good inside my wooden drawers:) The pieces of cereal box cardboard are cut to the size of the inner edges of my drawer that I was lining.

Then I laid out my fabric and cardboard in the shape I would glue them down and trimmed excess fabric. The space in the middle is the size of the bottom of the drawer (I used a piece of paper cut to that size for reference and then removed that paper once my cardboard was aligned).

A little more trimming around the corners, hot gluing the fabric down, and it should look like this.

Then I just flipped it over and slipped it into the drawer! A little glue around the top edges and viola!

My new fave drawers!!!!

Little notes:
- leave a little extra room with the cardboard for thick material
- trim corners so no fabric is bunched up

Super easy, super fun:) Hope you enjoy em!
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: ~TWO TINY THINGS FAVE BAND SWAP GALLERY!!!~ on: July 28, 2010 11:15:16 PM
I have received my goodies:))))

One pretty Jack Johnson lyric-ed pillow and a small box with a picture of the lovely Andre 3000 inside! I love them. Thanks Calabaza!

confession: i kinda cheated and added a lil touch of fabric around Andre 3000 in the box b/c i just had the perfect print for him and i couldnt resist... hehehe - but the box was already lovely without the fabric, and again, awesome job Calabaza!!

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: surf culture meets sequins on: November 27, 2005 08:26:40 PM
the sequins was a dress that i cut apart because it was really a bad dress. then i (for the most part) used it like regular fabric, trying not to sew into the individual sequins themselves. and viola.

as to how i made it...
just follow the jordy bag tutorial but without cutting the squares in the bottom corners, this way, the bag lays flat. when you need to turn it rightside out, instead of pulling it through the unsewed corner, leave a small space in the top sewing. in this space i added a loop for the button and then stitched around the entire top of the bag. and then you're done.
sorry if it didn't make sense.  Tongue
