1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: Share your Mess...Then let's clean it up! on: August 12, 2007 04:11:06 PM
The cubes from Target are so awesome! I just moved home after graduating from college and I have TONS of stuff to cram into a tiny room. I tend to keep my stuff in those moving boxes with lids that you can get at Office Depot and they fit perfectly in the cubes.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ravelry! Extra invites... on: August 12, 2007 03:36:02 PM
There are 18 people ahead of me! Hopefully I'll get my invite tomorrow!
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Overnight/Weekender bag, making-it-up-as-we-go-a-long on: December 26, 2006 04:34:22 PM
Hmm, I don't know anything about different types of seams so I can't really help there. I had a messanger bag strap completely rip on me once (it was a store bought bag too!) so I personally feel that the straps that go under the bag are the way to go if you're going to carry anything heavy. Definitely also reinforcing all of the places that are going to have the most stress on them.

As far as materials go, I was going to use decorator fabrics for the outside and lining, fusible interfacing in the heaviest weight I can find it for the outside and then also use some quilt batting (not the fluffy kind, that kind that almost looks like fleece fabric) spray basted to the lining. At least that's my plan, I'm not sure if that will work.

I'm planning on starting sometime soon. I'm going on a little trip at the end of January so I want to have it done for then. I'm probably going to get materials this weekend and start next week.
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Shaun of the Dead - a - long on: December 20, 2006 11:32:36 AM
I make everyone that I know watch Shaun of the Dead because I think it is so hilarious. My favorite part is when they have the montage of the plan to save the day, the part that always ends with having tea and they raise their mugs all happy-like. I'd do this maybe after Christmas.

CraftyCarrie: Maybe it's just me, but I had to stiffle a huge laugh at the picture of your dog. I guess I just miss the antics of my psycho cat (see below) but that picture is hilarious to me.

I went home and decorated with my mom last weekend but I forgot my camera so...there will be no pics from me until Saturday. We did a little village for the first time and it turned out really well. It's 50's retro themed, plus some crazy feather boa wearing snowmen that I have dubbed drag queen snowmen that my cat constantly tries to kidnap.

Sure Chilan! I'll take any participants that I can get! Have you seen this bag https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=139570.0 ?

The strap goes under the bag and back up around to form the second strap so it provides more support. I think that's a good style of bag for a laptop. There's very little chance that the strap will rip on you.

MyDestny: I was going to start this after Christmas but it will probably take me a while so feel free to start whenever!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: lion brand landscapes scarf!!! on: December 19, 2006 11:08:14 AM
I used to work at Joanns and I remember when we first got landscapes I was in love with it because I thought it was so pretty. Your scarf is lovely! How many skeins did you use?
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Grey/Plaid Laptop Bag. on: December 14, 2006 09:21:32 PM
I really like it! I've been wanting to make a carryall shaped like this. It's great for not having a pattern. I love the grey and red inside!
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Overnight/Weekender bag, making-it-up-as-we-go-a-long on: December 14, 2006 11:12:12 AM
I've been searching for a good tut for an overnight or weekender style bag and I haven't really found anything but, with these lovely bags as inspiration:
and the Amy Butler weekender bag

and the help of these tuts:

...I'm going to try to make it up as I go. I have a pretty decent knowledge of sewing but I haven't completed very many projects so I'd say I'm maybe an advanced beginner. Does anyone else want to join me in trying to do this?
10  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Clapotis from Knitty on: December 13, 2006 12:02:10 PM
Ooo sosidegal I like the way the colors seem to be pooling rather than striping. Now I wish I were using varigated yarn.
