1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Newsboy Cap on: October 26, 2006 07:19:43 PM
Got bored, made a newsboy cap.

Godzillapiggybank was an excellent model.

Gave it to the kiddo as soon as she woke up.

As soon as my (!)new sewing machine(!) arrives I'm going to start making adult sized ones and adding cool stuff to them.  My old one has served me well but no longer sews in anything resembling a straight line.  Let me tell you, lining up corduroy stripes on that thing was a bugger.
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Last Supper Messenger Bag (pics...pics) on: July 31, 2006 03:36:04 PM
I have an obsession with finding stuff at the dollar store to make messenger bags out of.  This is one of my favorites.  Its my sister's birthday present.  As usual, I need to add the straps but haven't gotten around to it yet.

And one last picture:

Yeah, I know I tend to go a little picture crazy.
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / CD Wallet w/ Record Cover on: July 31, 2006 02:38:11 PM
I actually made it ages ago from this tutorial as a birthday present for my friend Stevie Paul but never posted it in its own thread.  Doing it now cause I wanna do a CD wallet swap and need to get people interested.  Wink

Back then I didn't have a digital camera so the pics are just scans.   Lips sealed

oh well.

Cover and Spine.  You can see this was my first attempt at that type of binding.  The covers are made out of old punky looking records from the thrift store that were all scratched up.

One of the sleeves.  It was a REALLY beat up record cover I found at the thrift store but it looked awesome so it was bought.

What it looked like with CDs in.  Sewing through the layers was a PAIN but the screw-ups actually added to it a lot.  Stevie is all sorts of into punk rock music and that was the "theme" of the gift.

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / CD or DVD wallet swap on: July 28, 2006 10:49:53 PM
I don't know if anyone enjoys making these as much as I do but I would love to do a CD wallet swap.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / (almost finished) gold chenille bag on: July 12, 2006 11:46:00 PM
Unfortunatly I don't have my own digicam yet so when I got ahold of my dad's I had to take as many pictures as possible...even if the bag isn't finished.   Lips sealed  I still need to attach the straps and sew along the edge.  Right now the straps are just pinned on.

Gone messenger bag crazy lately.  Most of them I'm sending out on swaps (SO MUCH FUN) but this is the one I'm keeping for myself.  Its the first one I made out of the thicker fabrics so there are a lot of mistakes (but I loves it anyways, precious).

Eeek!  Looks kinda strange without stuff in it.  More lumpy.  Hehe.

It's smaller since I only tend to carry stuff for one class at a time.  Enough room for a text, notepad, and my pencilcase.  The rose is temporary until I can find a prefect jeweled brooch.

The rose is still AWESOME.  Its vintage, plastic, and oh-so-kitschy.

All the fabrics are interior design samples.  The bag is also reversible but I forgot to take a picture of it inside out.   Sad

Big pocket on the back for keeping things that need to be gotten at quickly.
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Silk Messenger Bag on: July 04, 2006 02:37:52 AM
Its time to pop my craftster cherry.  I've been a member for over two years but for some reason never posted.

Well anyways.  I was planning on borrowing my dad's digital camera to take pictures of the bags I made this week  but totally forgot with all the birthday fun.  So this is a bag I already have pictures of instead.

Made this bag a couple of years ago and I still use it.  The outside is an interior decorating store sample.  Its beige and white striped and all nifty textured.  The lining is a shiny iridescent fabric with unknown origins.  The ribbon is this awesome place in San Fransisco called...um...Bertex Fabrics, I think?  WONDERFUL place at any rate.  Went there a few years before I made this bag and stocked up on silk ribbon and never ended up using it.  Figured this was a good use.

ANYWAYS... on to the pics!

The flap looks all crooked in the picture but its just fine IRL.

This was my first try at ribbon embroidery so its not great but I like it anyways.

Hope ya'll like!   Grin
