1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Doctor Who messenger bag on: January 25, 2016 01:41:17 PM
I haven't been on here in a really really really long time.  Haven't had time to get crafty and make anything until now.  I originally made this to carry my new tablet around so it's padded with foam.  I think I might make a new one thats not padded for everyday use.

I want to make a new one with a zipper to close it inside and better snap on the outside.  Didn't think it was actually going to work so I used velcro instead and the snap on the outside was an afterthought.  I also want to change the writing on it.  I can't embroider so I painted it on.  Painting on felt is hard!  Maybe I'll use something other material for the black and white pieces so that I can paint the words better.  Either that or learn to embroider!

Inside has a pocket.  Outside has a bigger pocket on the back.

I haven't made a bag in years so I'm pretty proud of this one even with all the things I want to change  Smiley
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / monster fur? on: November 13, 2009 06:42:43 PM
So, I've been promising my little cousins monster bags for nearly two years now.  I'm finally ready to make them and have red and pink fur.  But I also need either orange, purple, yellow, or navy blue fur for the third girl.  I can't find it anywhere!  My crappy walmart has like one aisle or crafts/sewing stuff now and joanns only has black, red, and white.  And I live in a small town with any other majors stores being at least 2 1/2 hours away Sad  Are there any places online that sell it reasonable prices?  I found one but it was over $20 for a yard!  I didn't pay anyway near that for the ones I have!
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / witch? on: October 10, 2009 10:29:44 AM
Ok, I'm sounding stupid here, but I think I want to dress as a witch for Halloween.  I've never been one before.  Been everything from rainbow brite to a clown to a hooker even (when I was like 11 - what was my mom thinking!), but I've never been anything scarrier thana zombie for a friends halloween haunted yard/house thingy.  I don't even want to be a scary witch ( I have a pretty religious family and wouldn't want to completely irritate them, plus I have a 6 year old son).
Every year since my son was born I have dressed in rennaissance dress mostly nice dresses, but a few times as the wench look too and I just want something a little different this year.
What do witches wear?  Is there a pattern/tutorial somewhere?  I've looked online and there are a few I like, but I don't want to buy them, I want to make one.
Here are a few I like, just don't know how to go about making them or if they are even a good costume, right on track or completly out there and weird.
Also, I'm about 40-ish pounds overweight and live wear it can get super cold on Halloween so something warm is needed.

I know it's a child's but I think it's cute Smiley

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Diabetic Supply Cases ? on: November 23, 2008 06:57:08 PM
Has anyone here ever made a diabetic supply case?  My 10 year old cousin was just diagnosed with diabetes and she has a case to carry her supplies in, but my mom said she'd like something different.  I'd like to make her one for christmas, but don't really know where to start.
5  UNITED STATES / Michigan / Craft Fairs? on: January 11, 2008 06:59:40 PM
Does anyone have a list of craft fairs in Michigan?  I'd really like to start going to some, but don't know when any are or where.
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Pleated tote bag made from vintage fabric. *Now with TUTORIAL!* (Picture he on: June 03, 2007 08:55:48 PM
I based mine off your pattern, which was nicely written!

I made 1 strap instead of two, lined it, and added two pockets.

I found the fabric in a cupboard of my new house.  I was cleaning out the blankets to give to the animal shelter and I stumbled upon the WORST set of sheets I have ever seen.  Seriously, who could sleep with these colors on their bed?  So I made a purse of out it for my brother's girlfriend whom I adore. Smiley

Embarrassed  Completely embarrased to admit this   :  I grew up with the same exact sheet set on my bed and on my mom's bed too when I was growing up.  I saw your purse and it was like a major flashback.  I really like that purse, brings back memories of when I was little  Smiley
I am loving these purses everyone!  I might have to try to make one.

Is there anything that can be substituted for the alum?  I just can't find it where I live and can't afford to pay $13 for it online.  My credit cards are maxed  Sad
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Glass Picture Marble Bracelet on: December 03, 2006 10:49:52 AM
So the smaller glass marbles fit the klutz ones?  I have some small ones that I got from either the dollar store or walmart that I was going to use if I bought the other bracelets (that is if they'll even fit -i'm so bad at figuring out sizes).

Are the bracelets from Klutz any good or to they seem cheap?  I'd like to make a few for gifts this Christmas, but I'm undecided between the Klutz ones and these  http://www.marketworks.com/StoreFrontProfiles/DeluxeSFItemDetail.aspx?sfid=77928&c=495893&i=11996008      I don't know which would be better quality.  The klutz ones are cheaper in price
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / hiding a very ugly wallpaper border? on: November 02, 2006 12:58:39 PM
Does any onoe have any ideas on how to hide a wallpaper border going around the entire room at the top of the walls?  We're renting and can't paint or take it down.  It's way too girly for me, roses, pink and other flowers and all.  And even though I'm a girl, it's just too much.  Plus it clashes with our bedding that is mostly dark navy blue with some yellow and white in it.  I need really cheap ideas since I pretty much have no or little money to put into it.  Plus, I need something that won't ruin the border or the walls.  Any ideas?
