1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Help with Making a Book Type Thing on: March 20, 2008 07:07:06 AM
Hiya, please help!
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't sure which discussion area to put it in!
I want to make a sort of book type thing. I've been collecting images of clothes that I like out of magazines, and particular styles which I think look good, so it will sort of be a fashion/style inspiration book if you understand!
Anyway, I'm not sure how to do it. I have the book I want to do it in, and all of the pics, but I can't seem to put it together on the page.
The effect I'm going for is sort of like this book if anyone has seen it:
I want to include other stuff too, like little comments about fashion and life, etc. and I've been googling and searching for quotes but I can't find anything.
Any ideas/advice?
2  COOKING / Dessert / Chocolate Toothpaste? on: June 05, 2007 08:32:46 AM
Does anyone have a recipe for chocolate toothpaste?
For those who don't know, it's a pastry case with a chocolate filling. I can't seem to find the perfect recipe anywhere!
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Secret Santa [for who?!] on: November 26, 2006 01:17:16 AM
Okay, so I have a part time job at a shop, and this year we're doing Secret Santa. We had to draw names out the hat, and I managaed to pick someone that I don't even know!
I asked around, and apprantly she's about 35ish, a single mum, with 2 kids aged about 9 and 11. & she's really nice.
I'm a bit stuck on what to get her seeing as I have never met her, have any of you guys got any ideas? I can only spend up to 5.
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Panicing about xmas :/ on: November 03, 2006 12:39:19 PM
Okay, I know it's quite a way until xmas but I've decided to make as many presents as I can. So that doesn't really leave too much time seeing as I'm a student with a part time job as well.

I can draw and sew. I'm also pretty good at paper crafts.

The first person I need ideas for is my Mum. She loves shopping, Desperate Housewives, watching Saturday night TV. She's a housewife, but doesn't like the cooking/cleaning aspect!

Then there's my Dad, he works way too hard. Loves his laptop, likes horseracing, playing online games and doing DIY.

My brother, a 19 year old who doesn't have a job. Lazy, watches lots of TV, bit of a geek. Loves Doctor Who and has very strong taste when it comes to music. Plays the guitar, and into music technology.

My sister, 12, into boys, clothes, make up, usual stuff!

My boyfriend. Into music in a big way and sport. Hates romantic stuff. He likes cheesy TV shows, and basically everything, he's a really easy going person.

My best friend, actually the hardest person in the world to craft/buy for! She is extremely picky about what she likes/doesn't like. Loves the pussycat dolls and dancing and gossiping.

Any ideas at all? My mind has actually gone blank with ideas! Usually I'm pretty crafty but nothing :|.
Any suggestions welcome! I'm going shopping tomorrow so I can get supplies then :]
5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / all purpose flour? on: August 22, 2006 03:52:09 PM
In lots of recipes that I have found, they use "all purpose flour". I am guessing that these are american recipes? Since I'm from the UK, would I use self raising flour or plain flour? Or a different flour altogether?
6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / doctor who stencils on: August 16, 2006 03:00:47 AM
I'm a massive doctor who fan, & i want to make some tshirts with the doctor who theme, so i wondered if anyone has any stencils for me to use.
I have already searched the website, & found the dalek stencil [thanks amiemoo]
But I wondered if anyone has any more, for example of the tardis or something?
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / tshirt transfer paper in the uk on: August 15, 2006 03:24:27 PM

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / little nice gifts for my mum on: August 15, 2006 07:13:51 AM
Right, well it's not my mums birthday or anything, but recently she's been quite upset & depressed, & just sort of not herself. So, I want to make her some stuff to make her feel better. I have been buying my mum her favourite foods, chocolate, & cooking her favourite meals & such, but since since I am a student, my money has run out.
So, a bit about her. In her mid forties, loves shopping, her life revolves around her 3 kids. She likes hugh grant, desperate housewives, films, doesn't wear much make up but interested in it, adores coffee, always busy doing housework/cleaning/looking after the house.
Any ideas of what I could make her? I can sew quite well - but nothing too complicated! I'm also okay at drawing, & good at cooking. ALL ideas appreciated Smiley
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My First Proper Skirt!! *Image heavy - sorry!* on: August 11, 2006 03:05:29 PM
I am so proud that I finally managed to make a half decent skirt.
Before, I've tried but I've never found the right material to make it look nice. It's either been too thin, not right for a skirt, hard to sew or something else. I've made them, but never been able to wear them in public. I will definately wear this in public!
Then I stumbled across this fabric & loved it, so I thought "you know what, i will make a skirt today Smiley"
I followed a pattern, it was a Burda one I think [if anyone wants the number, I can find out for you]
It took me about an hour and a half, which was pretty good for me!

So here is the skirt [it looks a little wonky - but it isn't really!]:

This is the close up of the zip I put in [without a zipper foot Smiley] & the fabric. I know the fabric hasn't been matched up right, but I don't mind too much cos I kind of like the way it mis-matches together. & I kind of mucked up the zip and fabric, but considering the skirt sits quite high on me, it will be covered by a top so it doesn't matter too much! & I know I still need to cut some threads, but I was so excited about showing you guys I couldn't wait!

And then this is an action shot, sorry about the quality of it, but I was home alone & it was the best I could do!
Normally, I wear stuff right baggy on my hips, but I like the way the skirt fits me for some reason Smiley

Thanks for looking Smiley
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Hair Bow Thing on: January 07, 2006 03:16:51 AM
I absolutely love having bows in my hair, and I have a bow hairband, and a tiny bow on a hairclip. However, it's not enough! I want to make a bigger bow, for example about 5/6cm in length. I will then attach it to a plain hair clip to hold it in place.
I have thought about the idea of using a ribbon, but i want the bow to be more "full", so I think I'm going to have to use fabric to make it.
Does anyone have any idea on the pattern for it? I don't have that much fabric I can waste trying to figure it out, cos it would take me ages! [student=poor Sad]
So any help would be really good!
If I'm not too clear on what I'm looking for, just ask me any questions Smiley
