11  Re: Fiber Friday 10/12/2007 in Spinning: Completed Projects by astryd on: October 12, 2007 04:17:02 PM
Here is some BFL that I dyed last week. For some reason I was crazy and decided to pull out my spindle instead of spinning it on the wheel. This is going to take awhile. Wink

Years ago my aunt was a knitter/spinner/weaver but has taken a break.

So for the past few years she has been throwing away the fleece of her goats! This year she offered to let me come help shear and if the fleece was usable - to take what I wanted home.

I believe the white is a pygora fleece, the other two are colored mohair. The white was from the 'baby' and my aunt said it was the best fleece from her yet!

The only disappointing thing was that I (stupidly) forgot the camera at the house when I left this morning and couldn't take any pictures of the process... Other than that, she loaned me her drum carder/hand combs and gave me two additional fleeces that she has been storing. I feel a little overwhelmed, but it should keep me busy for awhile!

A few more pictures of the others are up on Flickr.

It's that time again. Best day of the week, in my opinion! Wink

Caramel Temptation

85% Wool/15% Mohair
2-ply, bulky weight
4-ish oz.

Mostly caramel colored, with hints of dark chocolate brown and white mohair. Reminds me of ice cream!

Midnight photos aren't the best... but I'm impatient.

The roving -

Can't wait to see what everyone else has spun up!

It has taken me way too long to post pictures, but here they are!

Beautiful yarn from Pixiefarts!

- hand dyed wool/mohair 2-ply, light pinks/blues/purples
- hand dyed merino single, wonderful colors, this is my favorite!
- and the Spiral-Rib bag from One Skein knit from wool/mohair handspun.

Not to mention the Crunch Stixx, which were very good. And of course, gone now. Wink

Thank you!

These pictures don't do justice to the items MoonLightbliss made for me, but I finally found a corner of the house with sunlight this afternoon. Too much rain the past few days!

Overview of everything.

Two (much needed) iPod covers. One is blue felt with sequins, the other is dark purple with a heart applique. Using the purple one right now.

Three bars of soap - 1 chocolate, 1 oatmeal, 1 chamomile. They smell wonderful. Hard to decide which to use first...

Two knitted stuffies - one fish, one mouse. My 10 year old brother watched me open the package, he wasn't thrilled with anything until these.. and I haven't seen them since. Boys!

And a little bag filled with various jewelry. A wire wrapped sea glass necklace, a set of earrings - shrinky dink material, two bracelets - one is buttons and the same type of stuff as the earrings (put that one on immediately), the other is circle/oval glass beads.

New iPod Cover!

16  Re: *Sock Virgin* KAL in Knitalongs by astryd on: June 06, 2006 01:12:34 AM

This is my progress from a few nights ago. Not that I've gotten much further.. but I did finally realize that whatever I do, things   wont be perfect. Probably frogged up to that point at least 3-4 times.  Cheesy

That is what I get for making socks as my.. '4th' knitting project?

Please excuse the bad photo - usually knitting late at night, and always forget to take pictures in the morning!
