1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / quartney's Craft Room on: May 12, 2009 01:54:15 PM
Just wanted to share pictures of my craft room.  It may provide some ideas or inspiration for others!

I used doors that people left at the curb for the garbage pickup as desks.  I used pipe from Home Depot inserted into metal toilet flanges as legs for the tables.  I bought clear sheets of acrylic on top of the doors as table tops.

The purple table is waist-high, so it's great for gift wrapping or cutting fabric ... activities you don't want to do sitting down.

[I share this room with cats, unfortunately ... hence the cat scratching tree and litterbox!]

The sewing zone ... spools of thread, gift wrap, notecards, and ribbon are on the pegboard, as well as too many scissors!  The next project is reupholstering the sewing chair.

The computer zone ...

Here is the "before" shot.  It was difficult to find the supplies I needed to get anything done.

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / tattoo shirt on: August 11, 2005 01:18:08 PM
I figure that instead of getting new tattoos, I'll just embroider them on my shirt.

3  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Not Embroidery on: June 29, 2005 09:05:17 AM
I wanted to make a t-shirt for my in-law's housewarming party weekend, but I knew that it would take me forever to embroider one, so I used Jenny's (modified) designs to make a cafepress t-shirt.

4  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Dia de los Muertos backpack on: June 20, 2005 07:29:27 AM
I bought a daypack for our upcoming trip in Oct/Nov to Mexico.  We are going to Patzcuaro, location of the largest Dia de los Muertos celebration in the country!  I'm so excited ... and I embroidered my backpack especially for the trip  Cheesy

I used metallic thread for the lady's jewelry, her drink, and also the candle at the top of the backpack.  It's not as hard to work with as everyone claims, so use it if you want!

5  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / McCall's M4440 on: June 20, 2005 07:13:31 AM

I just started this pattern last night.  I'm either doing view A (upper left) or view B (upper right), depending on if I find the "right" ribbon today at the fabric store.

If anyone else is interested, I'd love to see your results!

7  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Random Sublime/Dia de los Muertos question on: May 31, 2005 01:24:43 PM
Can anyone tell me what is on this lady skeleton's head?  Is it some kind of headpiece with a veil, or is that hair, or what?  It's the only part I have left to stitch  Huh

8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / faux screenprint on: May 26, 2005 07:35:36 AM
I used the tutorial found here to make this faux screenprint: http://www.livejournal.com/community/craftgrrl/3674467.html

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / baby name with "local" photos--great gift for a newborn on: May 20, 2005 08:00:57 AM
Hi!  I was reading the "what do I give?" posts and thought I'd share a gift I made for a newborn that was a big hit.  I took photos of local signs around town and near her house, and then used photoshop to make this image with her name.  I got it printed in that "panoramic" size (10" long), and bought a cute, plain silver panoramic frame.  Her parents and grandparents loved it, and I do think it will be cherished for a long time.

Edit:  Here is a new one I made (4" x 6").  The "T" is from the apartment complex sign where they live, the "O" is from where the dad works, the "M" is from where the mom works, and the "A" is from their favorite restaurant.

The "V" in the last name is actually the base of Charleston's new famous bridge.

They are moving out of the country in a few months, so I thought this would be a nice gift for their new baby boy.

Edit:  Here is another new one I made (5" x 7").

10  UNITED STATES / South Carolina / Charleston? on: May 10, 2005 12:52:49 PM
Just curious if there are any craftistas (or craftistos!) in the Charleston area.  I'm surprised at the lack of great craft stores in such an artsy area.
