1  Not your average birth sampler in Needlework: Completed Projects by megan+mary on: June 16, 2009 01:17:36 PM
It's been awhile since I posted anything, but I spent the past two days making this and wanted to share Smiley

I believe that every baby needs a cross-stitched birth sampler. And although this one is a little overdue (I need to stop procrastinating so much) it's perfect for him. My nephew is one of the most awesome kids ever.

2  Re: Little chunky houses gallery in The Swap Gallery by megan+mary on: November 25, 2008 09:39:56 AM
Here are my houses from atsuko and rackycoo!

Atsuko's house is on the left, racky's is on the right:

The backs:

And something interesting I noticed about racky's... I'm 100% positive it was completely unintentional but it was a nice little surprise! The paper on the back looks like it's from a German/English dictionary. My maiden name is German, it's Kreider (it means "the chalker").. in the bottom corner is the German word "Kreid", which means chalk!  Cheesy

I also received from ellenmarie yesterday! Smiley Very cute, roses are my favourite flower! She also sent an ATC that matches the house:

(The copper tape goes all the way around the house, my scanner cut that part off)

Since all of mine have been received, I thought I'd post all the ones that I made:

I was quite happy with the ones I made this year, and it was pretty hard to let them go!  Cheesy Thanks everyone for an excellent swap!

8  Easy Access Dryer Sheets in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by megan+mary on: September 26, 2008 07:35:37 PM
I'm sure someone's come up with this idea before, but I still wanted to show off my project of the night:

Our washer/dryer are in a little closet in our bathroom, where there was just enough space on the side of the washer to store a jug of detergent and the dryer sheets. Well, after 8 months of having to bend over to get these items I decided something had to be done about it. There's not enough space to put a shelf (at least not one that can be bought in the store... I'm still on the hunt!), so I tied some scrap yarn onto the box and came up with this:

Which the husband was impressed with, but I knew was only going to be temporary. So tonight I made this:

And now I'm much happier knowing that it matches my bathroom, it has clean lines, and it hides the ugly green box... not that anybody sees it with the door closed, but it still makes me happy Cheesy LOL

9  My Wedding ATC in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by megan+mary on: August 08, 2008 11:52:42 AM
It's been quite awhile since I've made any ATC's. One night I couldn't sleep and needed something to keep from going completely insane (don't you love those nights?) and got out all my papercrafting supplies. My husband and I recently got married on June 13, 2008 so I decided to make an ATC representing that.

The cross is a stamp that I used on just about everything (the invitations, the programs, the favours, the cake topper, and eventually one day it will be added to my tattoo collection!). The 3 stars were made with a star shaped hole punch with blue paper behind it, to represent the 3 blue stars that my husband and I both have tattooed on our wrists. I really like how it came out!

10  Sugar Skull Wallhanging in Needlework: Completed Projects by megan+mary on: July 11, 2008 05:07:59 PM
My friend just got a new house, and the countertops are a very bright red/orange/salmon-y colour, so instead of trying to match it she's just going to go with a theme of bright random colours in there. I suggested if she goes that route, she might as well do a "Day of the Dead" theme.

And so... I made her this (the flowers are mine, I just thought they looked neat next to it)

It's a mix of felt (the background is some awesome patterned felt I found at Hobby Lobby), embroidery, fabric, puffy paint, and random beads. The frame was a plain wooden frame from Michael's that I painted and removed the glass. The skull is slightly stuffed to give it a 3-d effect. I'm not the best at embroidery, but I'm quite pleased with how this turned out Cheesy
