@Abbeeroad: I love love LOVE that wonder flag you made. I wish I had it for my house. Lol.
@patty_o_furniture: THAT WALL! I'm in love! You did such a fantastic job!
@seeuudee: I'm drooling over that cubed French Toast.

Class: Apparation
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Purple Baby Hat
Brief Description: I sadly don't have a picture of me crocheting this hat in public but I did work on it a little here and a little there - took it to work one day and I also worked on it while at my daughter's gymnastics class. Hope my word counts as proof. Wink
Project Picture:

Class: Charms
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Michigan Baby Hat
Brief Description: I made these baby hats for my MIL's coworker (I pay her in crafts in return for babysitting, haha!) The intended recipient is a big Michigan Fan so I whipped a baby hat in Michigan colors so their expected baby would have something fun and lively to wear during football season. I hope they enjoy it! People around here sure love their football. Wish I could get into it. Lol.
Project Picture:

Class: SoAR
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Goosey 4th of July Bikini!
Brief Description: I carefully chose the red, white, and blue yarn (all in acryllic in hopes it would last longer outside) for this project. My goose Gertrude has been naked since Christmas and I decided it was time I whipped her up something festive to wear for the season - a bikini for summer in some seasonal 4th of July colors. My daughter got such a kick out of it when I told her to go out on the porch. Lol!

(Side note: I have an obsession with these stone geese. I saw them in the midwest growing up -think OH and WV - and I've never seen them in much else of the country. They're a lawn decoration. Mostly owned by old ladies. Back in the day it seemed to be pretty popular - they'd sew little different seasonal outfits for them and I loved it. A friend of mine told me her grandmother had two and she'd change their outfits EVERY day. My goose was gifted to me by my grandmother in law. She couldn't believe I actually wanted one. Lol. I just wish I had time to make her more clothes.)

@abbeeroad Thank you! And yes, there is a HP name! Lol. We are 90% sure we'll probably go with the name James. Not really naming him after James Potter but it is an HP name! Lol!

Oh, and my csection is Aug 1st but if I go into labor for some crazy reason, his birthday could be July 31st! A friend of mine pointed that out and I thought that was neat.

Hey there! I got my Hogwarts letter last week and was inspired to make my return! Life's been hectic lately but I've been actively trying to craft more to preserve my sanity so maybe HPC is just what this girl needed. Smiley

And since it feels so good to be back - I guess I'll turn in some homework I finished last night.  Grin

Class: Care of Magical Creatures

Project Name: It's a Boy Scrapbook Page
Brief Description: It may be hard to tell from the picture but there are little bits of shininess to attract those pesky Niffler's that have been coming around here.

4th Annual HPC Card Exchange!

Can you believe that it's time for our FOURTH Card Exchange?! I look forward to it every year...it's so nice (and really neat) to get so many cards from all around! Here's all you need to know to participate:
  • This exchange is open to ALL house members.
  • Cards may be hand-crafted OR store bought. This time of year gets very busy and no one is expecting you to work miracles. (I hand-crafted cards my first year and then definitely did store bought for the other ones.)
  • This is open to international participates as well! [Please note that not everyone will send you a card if you are international, nor do we expect you to ship to everyone (unless you want to!). International shipping (even on just a card) can get really expensive. Participate as much or as little as you wish!
  • Please understand you may get Christmas cards or Hanukkah cards or lord knows what else! (We have very creative cards every year!)We have Hogwarts students and alumni of varying religious/spritual backgrounds. This exchange is more about connecting with our fellow students so please keep an open mind about what you may receive. I'm sure it is no one's goal to offend anyone. Smiley
  • This is not an actual swap. Things do not have to be crafted. Nothing will be done if someone "flakes." I'm not keeping track of if people send or not or if cards are late or not. This is just a friendly, non-stressful, and fun way to celebrate the holidays with our fellow HPC-ers in real life.

This is how you participate:
  • PM me (Whistlefish) your address by December 2nd.
  • I will PM everyone the complete list of addresses the next day on December 3rd.
  • As soon as you receive the addresses, send your cards out. Smiley
  • You do not have to send right on the 3rd or anything. There is no set send-out date, just at your earliest convenience. I do suggest sending out earlier than later so cards arrive in time by Christmas. Smiley

I look forward to exchanging cards with everyone again! SO MUCH FUN! I just love getting happy mail. Please PM me with any questions! Smiley

Challenge/Class: Arithmancy/Iron Chef Hogwarts
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Lemon Broccoli Pasta
Brief Description: For the "craft" of cooking, my favorite "material" is definitely PASTA! And this recipe worked perfectly because it also includes spinach which was this month's secret ingredient! I give this recipe 3 out of 5 stars. It's nothing spectacular, it tastes good, not amazing. Please note though: it makes ALOT of pasta and if you have a small family like me you'll be eating it for days. The recipe can be found here.

OWL Subject & Option: Astronomy (Option #3)
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Mermaid Baby Quilt
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques used, materials using, plan of action, expected timeline, etc.)
Some of you may remember I made a mermaid quilt earlier this semester, then I found better fabric. Well, since it's going to take me approx 3-4 weeks for this due to scheduling, I figured I'd make it into an OWL to get my fellow Gryffindors some points.  Wink To fit the requirements, it will look just like a quilt filled with some blues, teals, and coral but if you look closely you'll realize that there's actually a under-the-sea/mermaid theme to the quilt. Wanna drool over the fabric I found and fell in love with? Here you go!

So life has been unkind to my crafting schedule lately but I'm really trying to get myself back on track. I even cleaned up my crafting area to help me get started! It's been a disaster since Luna's birthday party. But look at it now! Nice and neat. Smiley

Maybe not the neatest it's been but definitely workable. (Plus, I wanted to share my craft area joy with you guys! Our last apartment I had my craft stuff literally in five different areas and I'd have to use the kitchen table to make anything. Now I have my own little section of the basement to craft to my hearts' content.)

Anyways, so yes...speaking of Luna's birthday party....it was a success! Sadly all my pictures are not great because I was so incredibly busy throwing the party I didn't get to take pretty pictures like I wanted. Luckily I did manage to snag some of my MIL's pictures. (Lesson learned: Next time people can mingle for the 5 minutes it would have took for me to take the pictures I wanted.)

Anyways, class dump ahead!

Class: Apparation
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Dino Food Signs
Brief Description: Cutsey little signs for all the dino-themed food at the party. They may look easy peasy, but I spent quite a while designing them all from scratch. Even though it's printed, it's more of a digital project. They were the perfect thing for me to practice apparation - more than two related objects.
Project Picture:

Class: Care of Magical Creatures
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Dinosaur Birthday Banner
Brief Description: For CoMC, I created something that had FIVE major steps: computer design, fusible interfacing, silhouette cutting, ironing, sewing. Voila! Birthday banner! I don't feel like digging up the banner right now so this picture will have to do. Plus, it's huge. The letters are made out of a really neat dinosaur fabric, cut from the silhouette (never used it to cut fabric before, sure beats tracing!). Turned out pretty cool. May she forever use a dinosaur banner for each and every future birthday. Lol.
Project Picture:

Class: DADA
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Dinosaur Centerpieces
Brief Description: Dinosaurs, like Grindylow, can be very aggressive creatures. Inspired by Grindylow enclosures, I created dinosaur enclosures (centerpieces!) where the dinosaurs could safely be viewed by our party guests. (What it really is: sand and rock filler, carefully placed dinosaurs, balloons on each one. Made 8 in total for each of the tables.)
Project Picture: P.S. Sorry for the crappy picture.

Class: Divination
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Invitations/Gift Bags
Brief Description: I made two separate crafts that look similar and were designed in very similar ways but they are different projects. I designed both the invitations and the gift bag print outs from scratch on the computer and printed them out. I made about 20 invitations, printed on photo paper and matted onto some scrapbook paper, rounded all the corners. And I made 12 gift bags (which apparently was about 8 too many Roll Eyes ) and filled them with all sorts of dinosaur goodies. The good thing about too many gift bags is that the husband can bring the left overs to work. He works for a school so someone will find good use. Smiley
Project Picture:

That's all for now, but here's a bonus pic where you can see the fancy watermelon T-Rex my husband made. Lol! I ran out of crafting time so I gave him that job. He also made "dino tooth" necklaces out of clay for all the kids to wear.

I've been MIA lately...I procrastinated doing my daughter's birthday party so all of a sudden it was holy-crap-make-all-the-dinosaur-things time. It turned out to be a success! And in a day or two I'll have to make a post with a couple of the things I had made. In the meantime....I had to catch up checking out everyone's posts!

@MistressJennie: I love the herb garden! I can't wait to have my own house.  Sad Lol. Also, I'm kind of interested in Blue Apron, sounds like an awesome idea....I'll have to do some price checking. Also, I am LOVING the Quidditch challenge...I definitely have a couple projects I can use for this.
@noodle-bug: The Tea-Rex!!! Ahh! And even more exciting....that RAINBOW ZEBRA! I've never seen something so beautiful! You did fabulous on it!
@netchez: I love your little owls! And that koi is so teeny, tiny awesome!
@AnnoyingBigSister: I thought about doing a rock painting for my little owl too! Awesome clay Pokemon!
@Abbeeroad: What's a CDJ? A record player? Also, I LOVE the cross stitch! I made one for my cousin-in-law last fall and had a great time making it. Yours turned out so well! Annnd...awesome weaving! I've always wanted to try to make one of those.
@jellybean89: Lovely baby blankets! You've been busy!
@edelC: ohmygosh! That fabric! It's amazing!
@fatewineroses: The dark mark felt badge is so awesome! How'd you get so much detail? Embroidery?
@midkiffsjoy: Very interesting owl! And cute! I would have never thought to create something like that. And that drawer-into-shelves idea is fantasic...you're so creative!
@J_Kieviet: You are such an awesome aunt! Your nieces are very lucky!

Additionally: I've never heard of the cockney rhyming slang...it seems a bit confusing. Lol. I'm going to have to read up on it. Haha.
