1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Anyone know how to do this stitch? on: November 27, 2008 04:13:50 PM
So I absolutely love this scarf http://store.delias.com/item.do?categoryID=1661&itemID=50376&sizeFilter=&colorFilter=&brandFilter= from Delias, but being as I crochet, I refuse to pay 19.50 plus shipping for something I could easily make myself- if I knew what stitch that was (or a similar one)
The ends are obviously a rib, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows the other stitches.
Thanks  Smiley
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / African Woman & Baby on: December 09, 2006 01:15:33 PM

It's done w/ willow... which if you've ever worked with it's so hard to do tight details... I'm pretty proud of it. If I was to do it again i think the shoulder would be bigger... but other than that I like it (I realize the baby blends in.. it was kind of supposed to).

Let me know what you think  Smiley

(Oh, and btw, the picture doesnt do it justice -- the darks in it.. like the background are really black)
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Pretty flowery earrings on: June 27, 2006 07:15:59 PM
I just started beading again (I have this issue.. where I start something, spend all this money on supplies, then move to another obsession after finishing one project  Tongue) Anyways... these are the first pair of earrings I did.. I did a few random single earrings... but I then proceeded to take them apart  Tongue
Anyways.. here they are  Smiley Hope you like em

I got the pattern from http://beadwork.about.com/library/weekly/blleafyvine.htm... but I altered it slightly so it looked more like flowers rather than leaves.
4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / I made a banana!! :-) on: June 27, 2006 07:12:38 PM
My first time ever doing amigurami - I don't crochet hardly ever... I'm a knitter all the way.. but I saw this & just had to make it for my boyfriend who is obsessed with banana anything... sooo here she is:

Let me know what you think!
(Be kind... like I said, I def. don't crochet  Tongue)
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Two versions... (boobholder) (slightly image heavy) on: April 11, 2006 08:44:29 AM
I finished these a while ago, but never got around to posting them  Lips sealed
So.. here's the one I did & totally followed the pattern:

Done in a mint green baby yarn.. I dont remember the exact brand.. cheap walmart stuff  Grin

And my second one I made a few changes to - no cap sleeve.. 3/4 length.. full length sweater.. stripes
(that white spot was from the flash)

I love love love the second one.. the first isn't so flattering on me.. but I wear it once in a while

Thanks for lookin  Smiley
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Colored Pencil Portraits (picture heavy) on: February 12, 2006 12:58:53 PM
Mmk, so... I typically do a lot of portraits and figure drawing and such, but typically I stick to black & white or monochromatic pictures... I especially love working with charcoal. And, since the art class I'm taking is an IB course where we individually decide what we're going to work with and what we're going to do (it's a great course.. I love it) I haven't done much else this year... But, I figured since I did a picture of my boyfriend & I for Christmas (his request Cheesy), and I wasn't exactly thrilled with how it turned out, I'd replace that one with one in color...
So, anyway, like I said, I don't normally do color -- except for a couple chalk-based pastel pieces last year, I had a lot of practicing to do before I started. I finally got one done that I actually thought turned out pretty nice after the 3rd or 4th time, trying with different techniques:

I don't have the reference, but it's a baby...which I never did do the hair on... *oops* Tongue
So, once I finished that, I went on to the picture.. based on this one of the two of us:

...As you can see it's not totally finished.. .still have a bunch to do, and I have lightened up his skin since I took those pics... But I wanted to get some feedback on them since Mum doesn't offer any criticism and I wont be able to talk to my art teacher for a couple days.
Thanks for lookin Smiley Feel free to rip these apart.. I really want honest opinions  Tongue
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my first sock.. yay ^.^ on: January 08, 2006 04:20:26 PM

I used the sock pattern at http://www.dawnbrocco.com/freepatts.html.. with slight modifications (i only did 18 k2p2 rather than 30, and I made the foot slightly shorter..) It's my first sock, so it's not the greatest, but I quite like how it turned out.. I'm halfway thru the second one and of course, I've already started another:

Broadripple from Knitty.. bc once I finished a fairly basic one, I just had to try something slightly more challenging  Tongue
I love socks  Smiley let me know what ya think
oooh.. and they're both done in acrylic, just.. cuz i didnt wanna use expensive yarns just in case they didnt quite turn out.. and my mother has TONS of it stashed away.
Thanks for looking!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Abbreviation problems... on: August 24, 2005 01:53:36 PM
I'm knitting the Bianca Shawl Wrap: http://secure.elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=70024 , and I'm having some problems understanding part of the pattern:

Inc 10 sts evenly across as follows: P2, * M1, p2; rep from * across -32 sts.

what does "M1" mean?? The pattern has a list of abbreviations at the bottom, but this isn't one of them, so I'm hoping someone might explain it to me. Please? Undecided

Thanks so much  Grin
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Random Art Projects on: July 30, 2005 04:23:16 PM
Just some random art projects from the year. Please be kind.. I know they're not spectacular.

^Black on white still life..I like how the taller glasses & the straw-like thing turned out..

^First time using scratchboard...we had to think of phrase sorta thing & i chose "star-struck"

^just drawing pencils...it really doesnt look that unevenly shaded..its just the photo.

tell me what ya'll think  Smiley
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / redoing my room: pillow help! on: July 03, 2005 01:52:45 PM
I'm redoing my room finally, and i want to have sort of a fashion theme. I picked the colors- sort of an off-white for the walls, and a red color for my bedspread & accents & what not. I also know that I want a bunch of decorative pillows on my bed..like the square ones, but I'm not sure what to do for them. I was thinking maybe embroidering something on some of them and leaving some plain, but I don't know what to embroider on them. I also don't want to go out and buy a bunch of pillows with designs on them & whatnot if i can just get cheaper plain ones & put cases on them or w/e. Anyone have any ideas?
