3  Hand Sewn Chibi-Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by unimehe on: April 10, 2012 08:02:58 PM

I started making these little guys on a whim one day.  I'd traced out a small Totoro (from the anime My Neighbor Totoro) to use as a pattern for a wire wrapped necklace I was trying to make.

The necklace didn't work out so well... and I hated to throw the tracing away.

Then I remembered I had a huge stack of felt that my best friend's mom had given us when she was clearing out some of her stock at her quilting store and I figured it couldn't be that hard to try and make one.

I'd never so much as picked up a needle and thread for much other than stringing beads for the jewelry I make.

After cutting out the pattern, I stitched him together and here's the result! I'm so proud of him that I made him about six brothers and have a new addiction.
