Great looking pieces so far!

I have received from my partners:

a lovely watercolor/ink painting on wood by jenleahlynn.  I like the wood background and the colors go so well on it.

and a super cute little girl on a watercolor(?) wash by loves2experiment.  Really pretty background!

Thanks jenleahlynn and loves2experiment

2  butterfly notecards in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by geekgirl1000100 on: July 25, 2017 04:15:15 AM
I love making notecards/greeting cards. In the Birds, Bees, Buterflies swap I made my partner some butterfly cards based off ones on her pinterest.

I had a pad of brown cardstock and folded and rounded the corners of the cards and folded and stamped the envelopes.  It was fun digging through my paper stash to find 9 types of red, 9 types of blue, purple, etc.  It also made me realize I have a LOT of paper stash!

3  Bee Locket in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by geekgirl1000100 on: July 25, 2017 04:06:31 AM
I was recently in the Birds, Bees, Butterfly swap and for the bee theme decided to make my partner a necklace.  My first thought was some sort of pendant and I had a vague idea in mind and went to the craft store to browse the jewelry making section and came across this awesome looking locket.  I didn't know what I was going to do with it but I had to buy it.  I ended up making a little bee scene and adding a bee charm on the outside.

4  My First TM Patches in Needlework: Completed Projects by geekgirl1000100 on: July 25, 2017 04:01:52 AM
I was recently in the Birds, Bees, Butterfly swap and decided to make my partner bird themed TM patches.  She had an additional request of monochromatic.  Which I think made things easier for me because then I had less choices to worry about.  For whatever reason I was stressed out thinking about making them and I had a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that they didn't have to be perfect and it was ok for the stitches to be messy.  But by the 4th one, I was in the groove and totally see why they are addictive to make!

I've been very slack.  I received from gala_apples last week and took pics right away and never got around to posting them.

She sent me a great package.
a super cute tote bag.  I love those colors!

a honeycomb polymer clay necklace.  I almost made something very similar!

Lots and lots of greeting cards.

They are all great but these are my favorite

Thank you!

6  Re: Filled Stitchy Art Swap in The Swap Gallery by geekgirl1000100 on: June 12, 2017 04:23:20 AM
I received from curiousfae!  This is very pretty and I love the colors.  I love the different variations of color she used in each petal.

The crazy thing is she started over!  She had made this applique and wasn't happy with it and then went the floral route.  But this piece is awesome in it's own right and I am not sure what was wrong with it but it is now pinned up on my kitchen bulletin board!

And she included the cutest tiniest little hoop!

Thanks curiousfae!  Love the package!

7  Exploding Tardis Hoopla in Needlework: Completed Projects by geekgirl1000100 on: June 12, 2017 04:17:10 AM
I made this for curiousfae in the filled stitchery swap.  I don't embroidery much and thought this would be a good challenge.  This is the explosing Tardis scene from Doctor Who done in a Van Gogh-ish style.  I've painted this screen several times on coffee mugs and canvas.
Here is what it's supposed to look like: https://www.amazon.com/Doctor-Who-Exploding-Tardis-Poster/dp/B006BEC9HG
I embroidered just using a simple back stitch and used 6 strands at a time (just from pure laziness).  In some areas there are 3,4, 5 different color stitches on top of each other giving the piece a bit of a dimensional look.

And some close ups:

8  Assemblage Wall Art in Completed Projects by geekgirl1000100 on: June 08, 2017 11:25:37 AM
I made this piece for the 4x6 art swap.  It's a 4x6 canvas that was about 1.5 inches deep (I think, I can't exactly remember).  It's wide enough it can stand up on it's own.  Someone had given me something similar on a larger canvas and I loved idea and wanted to try it out.  I layered on thick layers of gesso and started sticking on random bits and pieces I had in my craft room.  Little trinkets, toys, game pieces, beads, found metal objects, etc.  things I've had in jars for a long time but have never ended up using.  I would do a section, let it dry, then add more to it.  Once I had enough items on it I let it dry for several more days and then painted.  I used a lot of distress paints and spray inks.  I would add a layer of paint, let it dry, add more paint. The spray inks helped get into all the little nooks and crannies.  Once I was happy with the paint and it dried, I distressed it with a black ink pad.
It was a pretty fun piece to make and now I want to make another!
