1  Scrappy Embellishments in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by geekgirl1000100 on: March 20, 2019 05:52:51 AM

I decided to put this thread under Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed because except for the printed words and staples everything I used was scraps of scraps.

I got the idea from this facebook video
https://www.facebook.com/elise.shaw.5/videos/2768418779849958/
For those that don't use FB, the original poster was Elise Shaw and here are some screenshots of her tags

Her's were pretty uniform in shape, I deviated from that.  The backs (that you can't see) are cut from a sturdy piece of junk mail.  I used small pieces of random papers I had leftover from cutting up gelli prints scraps and other papers for greeting cards and ATCs, tiny bits of ribbon and lace, and tissue paper that I had thrown into a box, etc.

I started gluing the layers together but wasn't totally happy with them, some of them were a little bulky so the word on top didn't lay flat so then I stapled the rest together.  I used to hate visible staples but after watching so many mixed media art / embellishment videos staple things, I have learned to embrace staples.

And after LB&BB mentioned colored staples I got out the colored staples I had for my staple board (which I hate BTW) and made some more.  The colored staples I had are kind of crap and jammed a lot in my stapler (but they jam on the staple board also).  In the second batch I also used some tiny scraps of fabric I had on some of the embellishments.

These are super easy and addictive to make. I still have more I haven't taken pictures of.  Anyone swapping with me in any paper related swap for the forseeable future will probably be getting some of these  Grin

I tried to make sure I had at least 3 layers and if the materials were flimsy I added a piece of the sturdy junk mail I had cut up.

I received 2 great ATCs from BBM.

This one is hilarious.  I have a cat that makes as much noise as this kitten appears to be making.

Love all the texture going on in this one.

She put each ATC in a homemade envelope and sent some extra papers.

And the cute card she included

Thanks BBM!

Yesterday I spent a little bit of time making some embellishments.

5  Yellow Assemblage Canvas in Completed Projects by geekgirl1000100 on: March 12, 2019 06:13:40 PM
I made this for kittykill in the Box of Color swap.
Just lots of random pieces from my vast collection painted in yellow, glued to a canvas with lots of E6000!
And then more layers of paint.

kittykill and I decided to go all out and swap medium flat rate boxes.  I asked for blue and/or blue colors.
I got an awesome box of goodies on my doorstep yesterday.  She did a great packing job - lots of breakable things but nothing was broken even though the box was pretty smashed up.

All the goodies together - a sea of blue! Blue is such a calming color IMO.

First off - 2 hoops.  They will make a great addition to my wall of crafts in my craft room.  The cat one has been on my pinterest for a long time.  I love it!

2 adorable little saucers.  I haven't decided what to do with them yet.  I need to put them somewhere very visible.

The cutest little canvas

A zippered pouch with a shiny blue pen, blue bird washi and jelly sharks (I can't remember if they are called something else)!

A pretty blue/purple-y journal.  I took it to work this morning for my new To Do notebook.

And this bag!!!  I love it!  so awesome!

And I am in love with these magnets.  Are they drawer pulls?

Thank you kittykill for a great swap!

7  Decorated Art Journal in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by geekgirl1000100 on: February 28, 2019 06:20:12 AM
I decorated the cover of an art journal for Averia in the Asheville swap.
It's a basic art journal with mixed media paper but I wanted to make the cover special so I took the covers off and after layers of gesso, paper, acrylic paints, ink, and metallic rub-on paste (kinda like Inka Gold) I then painted over with a good layer of gel medium to protect everything.

I cut the gears out with my cricut.  And included some art supplies and some cricut cut stencils for basic "art journal kit".

I received a couple days ago from Averia. She made me table runners for my night stands. My night stands arent that old. About 6-7 years old but my newest cosplay machine has ruined the finish on one of them (older one didnt do that!) and it was looking pretty ragged. The table runners look great on the dark wood with my light blue walls. I love them!

And if I want to change it up a little the backs are space-y looking.

She also sent me molds for clay! And some extra clay. Cant wait to use theses.

And some yummy chocolates. The crab chocolates have old bay in them. My family is from the Chesapeake bay so Im very familiar with old bay but never had it in chocolate. I could tell there was something in it but would have never guessed old bay. And the square ones were jack Daniels. The BF and I have already eaten them. So yummy!

Thank you Averia for a great package!

9  Re: Paper and Mixed Media Craft-Along in Craftalongs by geekgirl1000100 on: February 20, 2019 09:14:20 PM
Kwality your monster creations are spot on as always!

I havent been doing too much paper crafting lately and missed it. Mostly because the craft room was such a mess I felt overwhelmed. But I was off work Monday and made an initial pass at cleaning. So today when I got home I made some ATCs.

This is also using up my stash. Prior to today I had taken a bunch of ugly scrapbook paper and painted over top of them with the last bits of some old paint using the credit card technique.   Then today I added some stamping and stenciling and cut out and glued onto ATC backs I cut from a box of popcorn.  Sometimes I would stop at this point in the process and revisit them at a later time but I went ahead and finished them off with some collaged bits.
