1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Volumptuous Horses & Cable Lines.. in a geometric love dance. on: August 16, 2010 10:36:09 PM

heres a shirt i made the other day for a girlfriend Smiley
she basically handed me these shirts and said... just do what you do..
so i did..

plain gray shirt + AA funny graphic tee

she did say she wanted the horses in a L shape and some on the back, so i did that.
then i cut out the other horses and just placed them wherever i thought looked fun. (one of them is upside down Tongue)
i also cut slits across the neck of the shirt and one of the sleeves.. it needed more skin Wink

i also took some black fabric i had lying around and cut them into long strips and sewed the strips on to make a nice graffic pattern.
a lot of what i've sewn this summer has been very geometric and i guess that still stands Tongue it was hard for me to stick with the t-shirt form. i was soo tempted to do a tank/ 1shoulder but i dont have a modelllllllllllll.

I dont know.. at first i didnt really like it, but the more i look at it, the more im okay with it.... what do you guys think?

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Camo Skirt.. pt. 2!! eXposed seams, pockets and a bow :) on: June 24, 2010 02:55:20 PM
Last summer I made a camo skirt from my sister's pants. (seen here https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=308873.0)
THIS summer; my sister doesn't have any camo pants for me to rip up so I went to Value Village and bought one for $2.99 !! Smiley

I made them pretty similar, but this time, the front pocket is actually functional  Smiley

BEFORE:   (pic taken halfway through cutting, lol. I got too excited Wink)

I basically took the pants apart at the seams, then cut out the pockets I wanted to use.
Then cut the pants into strips vertically, and from then, selectively cutting squares and serging them back together. Then I took some black stretch cotton, sewed a tube, folded it in half and pined, sewed it across the top. I kept the bottom hem of the pants intact so that I could use them for the bottom of the skirt. Smiley

Please give me your thoughts and any criticism Smiley
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Blue Houndstooth, bow, lacey goodness ! on: June 20, 2010 10:28:42 PM
For some reason, I have random sewing sprees.
and then make nothing for months at a time. =_=!!

This was made mostly from scratch, but the beige meshy fabric is straight off a shirt i never wore (it was too tight on the arms, so i chopped 'em off)  Grin I still have the body of the shirt, but that's a whole nother project.  Wink
Then I made a simple tube top out of the brown fabric and blue hounds tooth i am INLOVE WITH.
Then I put 'em together.
Took some lace. Tied a bow. Sewed that baby down.

..I actually made the skirt as well, but from scratch..
But if anyone cares, I made a tube for the waist-part and a strip of fabric about 1.5 x the length of your waistband part. Pin, sew.  Smiley

I love this shirt- it's gotta be one of my fav things I've ever made. It's sailor-ish but school girl.. but with a tad of lolita...  Roll Eyes

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 2 skirts! ribbons, braids, and such on: June 25, 2009 05:00:26 PM
your basic tube waistband + long peice of fabric. gather/ pleat the long one to fit the tube waistband. i love this colour combination. i added various ribbons, braids, scraps of fabric for subtle but cute decoration!

i love it so much!! Cheesy i usually do reconstructions, but i cant stop gushing about this one. it twirls really well too!
(my attempt at a twirl picture, harder than it sounds! lol)

i loved this so much, i had to make another one....

....but i mis-measured and made it too big for me. now it needs a new owner Sad

for this one, i added 2 long straps of fabric on either side (inspired by overalls that i never wore properly as a kid- i always let the top bib-part dangle infront of me and wear them as pants Tongue) then i also added various ribbonsss for decoration!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / BAM, BOOM, and some black :) [5 recons] on: June 25, 2009 04:47:59 PM
quick and simple recon's but...

i made thiiiiiiis:

from this brand new shirt:

the before t-shirt was pretty cool: bright colours, with a comic book theme. but i didnt like how it was JUST a t-shirt (too many tshirts in my closet Tongue). i added yellow edges on top and bottom and turned it into a tubetop! then cut yellow and black scraps into strips so theres some deco in the front!

another new shirt i got at the disney store on sale! it was a long sleeve child's medium (didnt fit me of course), but i love jack too much to pass up the cute design!

i fitted it, added 2 straps (made with the same fabric as the shirt) on one side, and straps with a lace ribbon on the other side. on the back, the straps meet and form an "x" with a d-ring added for extra coolness Smiley the bottom of the back is also tied Smiley

before: my sister's pants that she barely wore. i forgot to take a before pic, but its the exact same as this, but with pink stripes.

after: the shirt is made up of 6 panels + 2 for bodice. cut off the leg part of the pants and sewed it together. then fitted it with darts. used left overs for the bodice and straps. the straps actually have lace detail, but i forgot to take a close up. the back is my fav, it dips into a 'v' - made possible bcuz the back is actually made of 4 panels!

before: another brand new huge shirt from the guy's section. i love the design of the shirt: skulls, bugs, and paint splatters that brighten up the black!

after: made it into a tank! one side has straps that tie up (adjustable of course!) and the other side has 3 straps that go along the shoulder.

***this was more of a for-fun/ experiment. i didnt really know what i was doing- LOL. tell me what you think, keep? or cut up & use for scrap fabric?

before: minnie mouse t-shirt that i never wore

after: hot pink skirt with black side inserts. the bottom of the skirt has black fabric edge. the top is just serged. i thought about added a black edge to the top as well, but the fabric stretches and fits like a dream. i dont know how to describe the upper part of the skirt.. just took scrap of black, sewed it, then held it down with a peice of pink Smiley

thanks for looking Smiley
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / READY FOR SUMMER! [4 shirts, 1 dress, 1 skirt] on: June 11, 2009 02:38:05 PM
I havent posted here in AGESSSS, and I'm sorry.
BUT! I am back with new surgeries Cheesy

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - >8        <= i came up with that last night. "cut along the dotted lines" GET IT AHAHHA! ahem. anyways....

i made thissss..

before: brand new top my mom bought for me. i didnt like it though, it didnt fit well, but it was ON SALE! the entire thing is light blue, but one of the arm sleeves was white. aaaaand cue dirty-mirror-pic

after: i first cut off those awful sleeves! used the white sleeve to contour the upper bust, and twisted it in the middle, tied it with cute beige lace and white ribbon. then took in the sides to make it more flattering. i almost chopped off the design on the shirt lol. then took some scraps and turned it into halter straps. i love that it hugs curves, but you can still breath!! (wouldnt want the wear-er to die!!  Shocked)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - >8

before: one of my favourite pants, but alas... i am a big girl now. it is too short and no longer zips up! [censored because my undies was showing]  Embarrassed its a light material, dont know what it's called though. there are neat seam lines running up the leg, which i loved.

after: cut off the top half of the pants and worked soley with the leg-part of the pants.
sewed everything together and since the pants were fitted, it SURPRISINGLY also fit amazingly waist and hip curves! at the bottom of the pants, it had decorative lace, i took advantage of that and used it to tie straps. this shirt is only 1 strap though, but its with super cute cowboy fabric i got in the remnant bin!  Grin the strap is adjustable too! hence the little peice hanging off. the top and bottom ends of the shirt are just serged.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - >8

before: my little sister's camo pants. she's at the age where they go through a pair of pants a month. GEEZ growth spurt! slooow downn!  its annoying for my mom, but its okay-  because i get more clothes to cut up!  Grin

after: my parents recently bought me a brand new serger as a first-year-of-university-grad-present! WOOHOO. i never get grad presents, but i guess it all paid off  Tongue i had so much fun with the serger on this project (you can tell right? Tongue) i dont know what else to say about it. i cut out a bunch of rectangles, triangles and serged it all together! then added a peice of black fabric waistband. i added a pocket from the original pants on the right hand side, a bow on the bottom left. and the back pockets of the original pants were saved! the skirt is about knee-length but its pretty big around the waist for me though, so im trying to find it a new home!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - >8

before: your typical HUMUNGO gray tshirt. i think its a size XXXL. super comfy! but super un-flattering  Lips sealed

after: BUT HAVE NO FEAR! i gave it a better, more fulfilling life  Tongue cut it at 2/3 from the top to make the bust. added houndstooth yolk/bib (ONSALE! regular: 29.99 a meter, now 5$!!) then decorated with lace and some scraps of gray.
i fitted the body by folding over some parts and sewing it, giving it this AMAZING drape. its SO flattering front AND back  Grin (yeah im really proud of this one hehehe) afterwards, i felt like it needed something more, but i wasnt sure.. so i added a bow (and made it detachable!)

woohoo. its so super comfy. i couldnt stop dancing/ taking pics of it.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - >8

before: sorry no before picture! i swear i took one, but it vanished. it was a pinstriped mens t-shirt with a design on the bottom corner

after: took in the sides to make it more flattering, added straps with my favourite kind of lace. straps go to a V in the back.. then i added lace/ribbon to contour bottom of bust.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - >8

before: little sister's shirt that she barely wore. the focus is a golden coloured star on gray tshirt fabric. sleeves are pink stripes!

after: i dont like love sleeves, so i chopped them up and turned them into straps. of course the shirt didnt fit me, so i added 2 side panels and 1 back panel with the sleeve fabric. (its amazing how much fabric you can get if you plan ahead!) lol

ahhh, an amazing start to summer <3 it feels good to be back and sewing.

sorry for flooding your computers with pics Tongue

please comment & critique!
