21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My design: World Champs on: January 08, 2006 03:21:31 PM

It's my first draft of my own design, intended to look like the 1982 White Sox jerseys.  I've got a little fixing to do on it, I want to change the "x" and I also plan on adding some stitches under the armpit so that it's a baggier fit.  I used the guidelines from www.woolworks.org to make it. I hope you like it!
22  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Lambs Pride bulky acrylic (or superwash) substitution? on: December 29, 2005 02:22:12 PM
So I'm making the Fairly Easy Fair Isle for my great aunt who is 81 and handwashing is just too much for her to have to worry about even though she's in great shape.  Anyone got recommendations for a good acrylic or otherwise machine-washable replacement for Lambs Pride Bulky?  There's a bunch of different Lion Brand possibilities, I think, but there's so many that each time I walk into Joann thinking about this sweater I get overwhelmed and walk out empty handed!  Any help would be fabulous Smiley.

I know I could possibly double up on a worsted weight--would that make the fair isle pattern look weird though?  Can you do fair isle while holding two strands together?
23  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Finished Hidden Agenda Sweater from Knitwit on: November 08, 2005 09:29:16 AM
Tada!  Hope you like it.  The recipient does!

24  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / My felting didn't felt? on: October 30, 2005 10:26:33 PM
I used Paton's classic merino(supposedly good for felting), washed it in hot water with other clothes, it came out the exact same size with no indication of felting.  What is going on here?
25  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Scrapbooking with newspapers? on: October 27, 2005 08:28:57 AM
I have never made a scrapbook, but I am thinking of putting a small one together to commemorate the World Series win of my favorite team, the White Sox, this fall.  I would like to use lots of pictures and articles from the newspapers.  Is there any good way to save/treat newsprint so it doesn't age as quickly?  Any advice would be awesome as I have absolutely no knowledge of how to do this.
26  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Fairly Easy Fair Isle knitalong, anyone? on: October 24, 2005 02:39:57 PM
My friend and I both plan on starting this sweater together probably around Thanksgiving-ish and thought we'd check and see if anyone wants to do a knitalong for it.  I'm happy to make a blog for it and stuff.

Any takers?
27  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / What to get for mother's day when you live far from family? on: May 04, 2005 09:51:13 AM
I live in Chicago, and my parents are in NY state.  Any ideas on something I could send to her for mothers day?  It's hard because I can't look around and see what she already has--I only get to visit their house a few times a year Sad.
28  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Mariah sweater from Knitty...who's made it? on: April 29, 2005 08:19:39 AM
Hey y'all!

I'm gonna make the mariah sweater for my next project (I'm just about to finish the first sleeve of the Hidden Agenda Sweater from knitwit).  Did anyone run into any "heads up" situations that I should be aware of while I start the project?  I'm using the exact wool called for in the pattern.
