it was raining and we were bored so my son and I cut up comics and covered our ugly coffee table.  I still need to polyurethane or something to make it waterproof:

It really complements our hideous carpet, no?

15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / GARGH!!! Seed Stitch!!!! on: December 03, 2005 10:50:58 AM
Ok, I can knit.  I can purl.  But for some reason I can't seed stitch (or Moss stitch to all of you Brits)! I've been practicing on on straight needles, and after days of frustration the best I can get is something that looks like 1-1 rib stitch.  It is infuriating I tell you! Put the yarn in front, put it in the back...ugh!  For some reason seed stitch makes me feel like a bumbling fool.  Ah..well just had to vent; it's been all bottled up and I've had no one to complain to since Craftster's been down and I have no friends who knit.
16  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Is this possible for a first-time stenciler?? on: October 08, 2005 11:53:19 PM
I want to make a few steciled shirts with a Donnie Darko theme.  I really like this image but I'm afraid it just won't turn out right..any advice before I give it a go?

17  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Frankenstein costume help on: September 07, 2005 06:56:20 PM
Not quite sure if this is the right forum, but this project will involve lots of sewing so I'm posting here.
OK, My son wants to be Frankenstein for Halloween.  He really likes this costume:

I won't have a problem with the jacket and pants, I can just modify some clothes from the thrift shop.  My problem is with the head/hat.  I like the idea of making something like in the picture, as it will keep his head warm plus remove the need for face paint & prosthetics (he's only 3 after all)   Any tips on what I should use to make something like this? I'm thinking foam and felt or fleece.. If anyone has any tips I'd really love to hear them!!
18  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Ready to Dye Yarnl!! on: August 16, 2005 05:40:26 AM

Dharma trading just started getting yarn;  the prices look good to me.  I'd be interested in hearing if other people thought the prices were good, as I'm still a yarn newbie.

Not like I'll be dying anything for awhile...
19  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Privacy Wrap & Sportweight Chenille on: July 25, 2005 05:18:37 AM
I am completely in love with Crochetme's privavcy wrap:

It calls for a sportweight chenille, which I am having trouble finding. Does anyone know any good brands of sportweight chenille? Would it ruin things to use worsted weight chenille?

This would be my first real crochet project other than little square samplers, but I must have this:  it so beautiful!

I heard chenille is quite unforgiving..

So any tips would be welcoming- working with chenille, good brands of it etc...
20  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Flaming Dice on: June 27, 2005 09:04:43 AM
Ok, so my husband and I are avid RPGers (yep D&D and stuff).  So I embroidered a 20-side die on the pocket of one his shirts.  As I am a major dork, my next plan is to embroider a beholder on my dice bag Grin
