31  Re: death to my kitty!!! in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions by francie pants on: April 28, 2005 08:01:43 PM
man, she's lucky she's so cute. *sigh*  haha.  we had a little heart to heart and we agreed that on saturday, we'd have some mom and girlie time in the back yard.  we moved to green bay a year ago this week and i've been too scared to let her out yet.  she's not always the sharpest knife in the drawer and i worry about her gettin lost.  so i'll take her out for a while so she can dig to her hearts content.  the rescue mission is complete.  out of the whole flat, i rescued maybe 12.  most broken and bent.... then the biggest surprise was hiding underneath a pile of broken peat pots.  she left mama a 'gift'.  but its hard to be mad when she's purring and rubbing on my ankles contentedly.  i need a dog!!!!!!!!! she's so weird.  she compulsively drags socks and fabric and tissue paper into her litter box.  and she covers all her food and water bowls with socks or scraps from the recycling bin so the other mean cat can't eat it.  but then she doesn't remember how to pull it back off.

her personal motto is 'all bad, all the time'

32  death to my kitty!!! in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions by francie pants on: April 28, 2005 06:12:02 PM
sweet geebuz..... if i wasn't such a good mama, i woulda drop kicked that little black freak across the room.  my boy and i came home from grocery shopping to find she had, once again, jumped into my huge flat of individualy peat potted tomater and cilatro seedling/plants..... AND TORE THEM ALL THE F*&% UP!!!!  i spent all night fixing them when she destroyed them before.... and now she's done it a second time.... and its looking like it'll be serious brain surgery to unearth what seedlings survived her plundering.  i'm thinking maybe she's ultra sensitive to roma plants cuz i now remember her going to town trying to dig up my fully grown plants two summers ago.  or perhaps this diggin cat is just desperate to get outside and took my temporarily indoors veggie garden as a gift for her to have her way with.  here's a picture of how it looked at first... the one she destroyed is the big long flat on the left

i couldn't bear to post a pic of the carnage  Angry

here's the monster herself

my husband just said i should post a 'kitty for sale' ad in here  Roll Eyes

33  grandma's knitting needles in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by francie pants on: April 27, 2005 04:33:59 PM
so, my mom is in the process of clearing out my grandma's craft room.  this wonderfuly strong willed grandma of mine is slowly being overwhelmed with altziemers.  she was the craftiest chick i'd ever met.  organic gardens every summer, some hand made polyester pants suit every sunday at church.... every room of her little house held some new project whether it be dough roses, knitted baby dolls, or raggedy ann and andy's in the sewing room.  so mom has been sending me a ton of stuff.  first i got her sewing machine and yesterday came 2 huge boxes full of wacky old knitting patterns and more knitting needles and crochet hooks than i'll ever use in my life.  mom wasn't joking when she said i'd never buy another knitting needle again.
here's a picture of just the ones i was able to fit in the two needle roll ups she also sent me.  AND the most kick ass circ needle kit.  almost every gauge needle tip and every cord length... essentialy making all my other needles pointless

and yet i STILL have a freezer bag of mismatched plastic and alluminum needles.  what should i do with them??  i already have dreams of making a shadow box with her wackadoo little gadgets and vintage tools.  i found this beautiful round wooden case holding 5 pristine #1 dpn's that have a tag saying its from milwaukee and cost 15 cents.... they lived in milwaukee when my mom was a baby.  so there's quite a few relics/gems in this box.  should i fashion them into little arbors for my potted plants?  is there some sort of crafty thing to make with old thin needles??
