1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / I love lamp. on: April 09, 2009 10:50:23 AM
I designed and built this lamp last week. Its made from a thin cardboard and metal staples with simple coat-hanger-and-styrofoam mounting gear. Designed as a sconce, the white wire will eventually be hard-wired into the wall.

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Building myself a new bed... on: November 17, 2008 07:01:17 AM
I was looking into buying myself a new bed for Christmas, but instead I thought it would be better to build my own: it will save me money, although not time, but I'll be able to customize exactly what I want.

Basically, I'm looking for some ideas. Does anyone have a really interesting bed? Any ideas of something neat/interesting/fun?

A photo of my mum's hens and chickens plant. Colours and contrast were enhanced in photoshop. Enjoy.

Ouch. That sucks.

Dye the whole thing with bleach to make it white =D
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled Pop-Can Candle Holder on: January 13, 2008 10:24:06 AM
So I was sitting on the floor in my bedroom this afternoon when I spotted an empty pop-can sitting on my dresser. I was feeling a little crafty so I grabbed it, some cardboard, and an exacto knife. Then I grabbed a pencil, some sissors, another empty pop can as well as my trusty PVA. Next thing you know, I've got an adorable candle holder. It kind of raddles when you move it, though.

What do you think? Let me know if anyone wants the tutorial for it (I took pictures along the way =D ).

Cut off the arms and sew up the bottoms. Stick a wine bottle in it, tie it up with a ribbon and give it as a nice hostess/host gift.

Fab. Martha Stewart's got nothing on you!
I love the blue/green ribbons on the first ones. Oh, and my cat totally sits on things that I'm working on/trying to use (with the exact same expresssion on her face as your cat has.)

Good work. I'm sure everyone who gets one of these will love 'em.

You did a good job with all the different rooms.  Are you going to add a finish on the cardboard or leave it as is?  My friend just made something similar and pasted images from vintage books onto it:

Wow! Thats fantastic. I'm not sure if I'm going to put a finish on it...but thanks for the great idea.
