1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / REmixing a sweater pattern, IE changing it up! on: November 18, 2008 11:47:58 PM
I'm attempting my first sweater and I have found 2 patterns that I would love to knit up.  My question is.  What should I do when I want to change the actual stitch?  I have a book on knitting stitches and I'd like to substitute one of them instead of using the suggested stitch.  How can I transition this successfully?

Also, I want to use chunkier yarn to make it more bulky.  How can I do that? Meaning how can I translate the pattern to accommodate these changes?

This pattern is the Twiggy tunic from Twinkle's book and I'd like to make this slightly over sized and have the off the shoulder look be drapier, should I just knit more stitches?

I hope my question gets answered, I'd like to start these asap!

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Love it. on: June 09, 2007 07:41:03 PM
Hey guys I just made this dress and I love it!  I jumped on the Infinity dress bandwagon when I found a vintage infinity dress pattern on ebay.

Dug up some fabric that was waiting for a dress like this, and here it is!

I decided to post two styles of this dress.  Forgive my bra.

With the fabrication, it reminds me of those old dressing gowns women used to wear around the house in the 30's and 40's.

Comments appreciated!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Laptop Bag? on: June 04, 2007 08:27:34 PM
I'm looking for a basic laptop bag.  Well it's more a sleeve than a bag, because I don't want it hanging from my shoulder.

Anyway, I saw this in Lucky Mag and it's the perfect look.  Can anyone direct me to a pattern similar to it?

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Do you guys actually make money on etsy? on: July 13, 2006 10:49:57 PM
I have looked on etsy, and I wonder why most of the items are quite cheap?  I look at some items, and I personally think that alot of these people deserve to charge more for the work they're producing.  With materials and labor, I wonder how much of a profit do you guys make from your creations?
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Cool dress I made! on: June 23, 2006 03:24:44 PM
Hey guys!  I found a vintage vogue pattern on ebay and I decided to make a sample of it in some inexpensive fabric i had lying around.  Well the sample came out better than I anticipated and here it is!!  This is a dress on the bias and that's why I wanted to make a sample first.

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Check it out, my friends!!! on: December 23, 2005 04:26:54 PM
Hey guys! I just finished this skirt yesterday!!  I'm so happy and proud of myself because I had to make 5 separate samples in order to fit this just right (the fabric was expensive).  Anyway, it's made out of wool with a burnt out velvet floral pattern and it's fully lined with silk!  I finished the hem and waistband by hand.  Let me know what you think!!  Thanks!

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Any good upholstery books, info? on: August 22, 2005 05:29:33 PM
I have a sofa bed that I'd like to reupholster.  Can anyone tell me good books or websites that can help me?   This will be my first time.  I don't want to change the cushions or anything.  I just want to change the outer fabric.

Thanks for all your help!!
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Check out my hot leather hobo bag!! lot's of pics!!! on: July 06, 2005 08:45:17 PM
Oh my gosh, I can't belive i finished this.  This is my first bag of this style that I've made and I'm so proud of myself.  All on the home machine!!  I bought the red leather and had the cotton lining lying around.  I studded the bag by hand( which took me 1 day each side, and 1 day for the strap) and I did the zippered pocket using a tute from here!!

Tell me what you think!!
Overall bag.
