1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Microfiche on: April 04, 2009 08:50:21 AM
Wondering what to do with microfiche cards. I just found out that the library where I work gets them but simply throws them out since we don't use them or have a reader or anything. I think they look cool but I've got crafter's block. Any ideas other than artist trading cards?

Edit: It looks almost exactly like this:
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Weird Fitted Sheet? on: October 01, 2007 06:07:14 AM
Hi everyone,

I have a weird problem. My university's dorms have weird mattress sizes. They're something like "long twin" or "wide twin" size. I couldn't find sheets of that size so I got regular twin, and they all seem to fit... except the fitted sheet barely fits and keeps popping off! It was like this all last year and it's really bugging me. Any ideas for neat crafty tricks to make the fitted sheet stay on???

3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Handmade Paper Question on: July 27, 2007 06:19:58 PM
Hi there. I've been making handmade recycled paper for a long time, but never tried adding anything besides paper. I've heard of paper make with cotton rag and I have a big bag of cheap 100%-cotton cotton balls. I'd like to add these to some of my paper, but I'm not quite sure where they fit in the equation. Should I put them in the blender with the paper I'm recycling, or wait until after and just mix it in my pulp in tiny chunks? Please let me know if anyone has any experience they can share with this! Also - same question, but with bits of thread and yarn Wink
4  UNITED STATES / Michigan / Southern Grand Rapids Craftsters - Help! on: April 25, 2007 09:39:44 PM
Hey guys and gals,

I'm a Craftster/college student in Kentwood/Caledonia just south of GR. I'm moving all the way back to Saginaw for the summer this weekend, and I have too much stuff to take back with me! If you want to help, here's what I have in mind:

- Boxes. I think I can get boxes from work, but I may need some extra boxes if you have extras, preferably small ones, to pack up everything that I can fit in my car to take home. If you have any, let me know by PM and I'll let you know friday or saturday if I need them.
- Trades. I have a bunch of handmade recycled paper I made that I can trade if you're interested. If you wanted to do this, I could even trade (sell) the paper for money or give you until September when I come back to GR to fulfill your half of the trade.
- Ideas. If you know any good ways to pack up a car full of stuff while saving space or any secrets to getting the most out of space, feel free to post them, email them to me, PM me, etc!

If there's any way you think you can help me, let me know. I know it's short notice, but finals week kicked the crap outta me and I didn't realize that I had hoarded as much crafty stuff as I did!
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / First Embroidery/First Pillow on: April 09, 2007 08:23:44 PM
Hey everyone. I just made this pillow the last couple days. It's my first embroidery project and my first pillow. I used scraps from old no-sew fleece blankets I've made because I'm trying to get things cleaned up for moving out of the dorms for the summer. Anywho, sorry for the crap photos but here it is:

You can't see it here, but the top has the same green brown green pattern and the back has the creamy off-white like the middle as well as some plain white scraps. The design is meant to be like the design on my website - thegriddle.net. Let me know what you think!
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / No Sew Bean Bag Chair? on: February 05, 2007 02:23:30 PM
I'd like to make a bean bag chair/sofa using fleece, but I don't have any sewing supplies or skills. Is there some cool way I can combine the ideas of a bean bag chair and a no-sew fleece blanket without all the beans falling out through the gaps between the knots? I was thinking garbage bags, but they might tear open easily. If someone has a suggestion, I'd love to hear it Smiley
7  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Credit card alternatives for Etsy? on: January 28, 2007 11:54:11 AM
I know that to sell on Etsy you need to have a credit card. If I was to use the credit card almost exclusively for Etsy, what kind of credit card would be best to get? I've never had one before so I don't know what to look for, but I'd like one with very little to pay as far as credit card fees go. Like as long as I pay on time, no trouble, you know what I mean? I have a lot of recycled paper to sell and could make a lot more nice crafts, but I'd hate for credit card fees to take up all my profit! Any suggestions would be great!
8  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Color Specific ATCs on: January 17, 2007 10:14:22 PM
Pink and Blue:

I might be sending/trading these to another Craftster or someone on xPx soon... hmm...

Anyway, post your color specific ATCs here! How many different colors are there? Time for me to bust out my old box of crayons...
9  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / Craft Somewhere Weird on: November 23, 2006 10:54:35 PM
How about a challenge to craft somewhere weird? Knit something at a highway rest area, climb a tree and sew something, make handmade paper on the roof.... something crazy like that. Sound good?
10  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / ATC Shuffler on: November 16, 2006 07:37:17 PM
It would be cool if there was a page that found all of the ATCs in the picture hosting database and shuffle them like a deck of cards and you could 'draw' a random card to look at, like a gallery. There could even be a Craftster picture for the card back so it would look snazzy. If it pulled all images with a special ATC tag it wouldn't be too hard to create this page. How about it?
