21  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / My paper mache witch hat. Come tell me whatcha think! on: September 21, 2007 04:09:04 PM
I made this witch hat the other day using a flour and water glue and newspaper. Tonight I sat down and painted it black and drybrushed a bit of brown to give it a used/old/dirty look. Its not very big. I made a little one as a tester I plan on making some more to use as decoration around the house.

My husband says it looks more like a thumb tack Angry So i wanted to get some opinions. What you do all think? What can i do to make it look better?

23  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Kids table: what should i put on it? on: June 21, 2007 06:51:00 AM
I will be having lots of kids at my wedding ages 1 month on up to 18. I made coloring pages for the kids that came to my first wedding (yes we are having two) and everyone loved them. This time the wedding is going to be bigger and there will be a lot more children.  I have already started working on a coloring/activity book but i want something else that wont be too messy but that will keep the little ones busy. There will be candy on the table (im thinking maybe in gift bags but i dont want some kids to take more then one bag Undecided) Give me some of your ideas!
24  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Heat/ink embossing question on: June 06, 2007 08:54:44 AM
I have never done heat embossing before. I really liked the look of it so I have decided that I want to use it for my place cards at my wedding. I am having an issue which is why I have come here to you guys Smiley

My problem is the paper I want to use the embossing powder is dark/hot pink and the other is orange. My thoughts were I could use orange embossing powder on the pink paper and then pink powder on the orange paper. I took my pink paper to the craft store with me the otherday and asked that they use the orange embossing powder on it so that i could see what it looked like (i am waiting for my heat gun to come in the mail so I could not test it out myself) Anyway the orange does not really show up on the dark pink paper I wanted it to be a really nice bright orange so that i could have a good contrast. Ok so my question is if I use white ink on the pink paper will the orange powder show up better? I used clear ink for the testing of the orange. well what are your thoughts? sorry for the long post Undecided
25  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Does anyone want to help me out and create a cover for my wedding activity book? on: May 23, 2007 03:12:36 PM
I am making coloring books for the kids at my wedding and I would love for them to have a drawing/cartoon or whatever of an indian bride dressed in a red sari and her groom. I have no art skills what-so-ever and I really really really want this on the cover. So is there any kinda hearted person willing to help me? Please Smiley There wil be around 250 people at my wedding and most of them have children so I want to make them some kick ass books to play with while they are at the wedding but also something that they can take home and keep

27  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Can resin be colored? on: May 14, 2007 12:25:49 PM
I am going to try and recreate these elephant place card holders for my wedding ( I need too many and they cost too much) I was thinking I could buy a few and make some molds and then use resin. I have never used resin so I dont know much about it. I would like to color the resin. Can it be done and if so with what?

28  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / What should/can I do with these pretty frames? on: May 13, 2007 12:24:06 PM
My husband found these frames sitting on the curb to be picked up by the trash man. My husbands shop is right next to an art store and these were some of the frames that they use. They have a few chips or a scratch but they are in good shape (to my eye anyway) I know I could put a picture in them but I wanted to do something else. Something more creative. What are your ideas?

All three frames together

29  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / My I DO letters for my cake table on: May 11, 2007 04:26:14 PM
I really liked the idea of  having something spelled out on my cake table. I have seen some people use HAPPY EVER AFTER or the couples names but my cake table was small so I went with I DO. I bought the letters off of ebay from a really great seller. She is super affordable and she worked with me because i requested a special font (she usually just sells wooden name plates for childrens doors so she usually uses a kiddy font and i needed something more weddingish) I emailed her the font I wanted and she whipped them out and sent them to me super fast. She also normally decorates the letters for you in the colors you like but I asked that mine be left blank because I wanted to paint them myself. Anyway here they are. I need to get a better pic I will have to get them out again and take a better pic. I painted them to match the print on my invites. The ebay seller is mandibears in case anyone might want to use her. She is really great Cheesy

Here is where I copied the design from. I really loved my wedding cards they are sooo much more pretty in person. There is a bit of shimmer in the paper that made it so pretty. The website where we got them is www.imaginewedding.co.uk
